Guest exilim
Felt sorry for Obertan with the cheers when he came off, like. Really? I watched the match on stream halfway around the world and couldn't stop myself cheering when Ober-shit came off. Did nothing entirely. Doesn't help in defending. One dimensional play. Run at players and lose the ball each and every time. Even when he gets lucky and go pass someone, he sends the ball to no man land.
ponsaelius
So its okay to sarcastically cheer a player being subbed? Not in my opinion.
Mick
Quite a few people were thrown out of level 7 today for some reason.
Guest Roger Kint
So its okay to sarcastically cheer a player being subbed? Not in my opinion. He didnt play too well but had some good touches, one flick early on was quality. Never enjoy seeing one of ours applauded/jeered off no matter what my thought on him are, still cringe at the Wolves game 7 years ago(?)

Ghandis Flip-Flop
He was awful. And sarcastically cheering him is going to inspire him to play better? Fucks sake some people wonder why we get called fickle by other sets of fans. Discuss who was crap in the bar afterwards, but cheer the 11 on the pitch regardless surely? Dave
We get called fickle generally because of stereotypes still floating around from the 1990s. Most sets of fans would have been unhappy with Obertan's contribution today. He should have been substituted way before he actually was so by the time he was hauled off people were pretty relieved. Football fans going a bit far voicing their opinion shocker, I'll not lose any sleep over it.
AyeDubbleYoo
my biggest gripe with our fans at the minute is the constant sreaming to get the ball forward quickly, Pardew said at the start of the season when he brought in the likes of cabaye was to help us control games and keep possession. I love the fact we look so comfortable in possession and pass it around, Tiote will get him play out wide but if Taylor or Jonas can't go down the left, the ball comes back in the middle either via Colo or Tiote or Cabaye and we'll switch it but too many times when it comes back there'll be moans and groans. Its probably a case of educating the crowd but when you look at the best, Barca & then Spain internationally, possession is key, if we have the ball we have control of the game. Our team is built on a solid foundation and we have an excellent defensive shape and as a result or pretty tight defence and as a result if we are controlling the game and keeping the ball we will make enough chances to win the game. Aye, it annoys me a lot as well... a guy behind me was complaining about 'not pressing their back four' when we were in possession. He basically meant that we weren't getting it forward quick enough. Any fans getting annoyed with patient possession football are idiots IMO. Our style relies on getting the midfield up the pitch with the ball on the ground, to do that you need to keep possesson for longer periods.
Newcastle Fan
As much as i hate to admit it i think the fans put more pressure on Obertan than anyone else, from the moment he's supposed to get the ball till he gets it and lets it out of his feat everyone is shouting at him. Then again he's being payed millions to play football infront of them so he should be able to handle it. personally as pissed off as i was at him i didn't really do anything when he came off, however i understands people's frustration with him, he needs to sort out his act. Spot on and when you add in the expectation of a Wigan battering and people also eager to see Marveaux it was always going to be like that. A spell as super sub might do him some good. Ketsbaia
Obertan is a professional, he knows how fans are. He won't lose sleep over it, but he was incredibly shit today - again.
maybe_next_year
Obertan is a professional, he knows how fans are. He won't lose sleep over it, but he was incredibly shit today - again. judging by Pardew's comments on thursday i reckon he's the sort of player that will lose sleep over it. yes, not very professional, but he is only human and ultimately fans acting like that wont help him cultivate the sort of performances he is capable of and help us win more points. Guest Haris Vuckic
Some well wank fans today, support the team or piss off. Cheering when a player goes off is pathetic and despite numerical superiority it puts us with the worst support in the land.
