Bowie
NEWCASTLE United have lost their shirt sponsorship deal with sportswear giants Adidas. The end of the association with the high-profile company goes back 14 years and has come as a financial blow to Newcastle owner Mike Ashley. It is believed Adidas have become disillusioned with the negative publicity which has surrounded the club since Ashley took over. They were quick to distance themselves from stories linking them with Ashley’s controversial plan to re-name St James’ Park. Now they have decided not to renew a contract with the Coca-Cola Championship toppers which ends in the summer. Newcastle will now join forces with Puma. The Newcastle hierarchy wanted news of adidas’s departure delayed until after Christmas, as kit bought as presents will soon be out of date. It’s understood the Puma deal will be less lucrative than with adidas and that adidas are on the verge of signing a contract with Spurs, ironically ending their tie-up with Puma. Newcastle’s shirt sponsor deal with Northern Rock also ends in the summer. http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/145742/Adidas-pull-out-of-Newcastle-deal

Skirge
Strange we on course to win the league and go back to the prem, Ashley being greedy on the new deal ?
johnnypd
Strange we on course to win the league and go back to the prem, Ashley being greedy on the new deal ? why would he be being greedy if he is getting less money? it's more down to his mismanagement than anything. BlueStar
Strange we on course to win the league and go back to the prem, Ashley being greedy on the new deal ? Probably decided not to renew when we were plummeting down the league as a laughing stock rather than just now.
Thespence
Also worth remembering Ashley is not excalty Mr popular with Adidas or Nike.
Cajun
Puma do some nice stuff, unfortunately their football shirts tend to have the logo on them in about 15 places!
M4
Puma do some nice stuff, unfortunately their football shirts tend to have the logo on them in about 15 places! This season their kits are dogshit. And yeah the logo thing is just silly. Really hope we don't get them. With Adidas we always seemed to have some kind of original/unique design, Puma seem to make 2 templates a year and decline it even to its bigger teams. jarrovianmag
Could do worse than Puma, Im surprised he aint using one of his own companies to make the kit like Donnay or Lonsdale!

Mr Logic
they haven't pulled out either. not renewing whan a contract has ran its course is different to pulling out. It's a little bit like pulling out when they're ending a 14 yr relationship though. Obviously not happy with something (ashleyCOUGH!)
