NG32
Do all the clubs hire the same statue guy, as a lot of them don't look like the person they are meant to be. I still love that midget statue that Southampton stuck outside their ground... http://www.bbc.co.uk/radioassets/photos/2007/3/21/17380_2.jpg
Guest firetotheworks
Shearer never celebrated like that [emoji38] He did actually. It's still his much less well known celebration. Everyone knows it as an open hand.
Guest firetotheworks
The one day I take off from work and fucking Keegan and Shearer are outside.
Guest firetotheworks
His or SBR's isn't that great like, but better than a lot of others. It shouldn't be too hard to get a decent statue given today's technology. Wor Jackie's looks more like him than Shearer's FFS! His needs moved closer to SJP as well, Shearer was the better player in general, but Wor Jackie actually won stuff. If it were down to me I'd line all of SJP with statues of our former greats and info on them like stats etc. as well as pictures and flags. Milburn's is obviously stylised, but it's a brilliant statue like.

Willow
.com As to precisely who it's modelled on though, that's more open to interpretation with claims of Dale Winton and Hen Broon. Our own thought was Russ Abbott.

NUFCDoog
Quite surreal seeing Keegan, Shearer and Shepherd outside SJP like after everything that has gone on. Love it. Is this the first time Keegan has been back that close to the stadium since the whole court debacle?

Poor wording perhaps but i meant more in the sense of a semi official engagement with the club - feels weird seeing him involved like that, good weird obviously but yeah. Cheers for that though, was the candy floss for himself?

Tsunami
I'd have preferred the image to have been celebrating his last ever goal; I'm sure the Mackems would have appreciated that moment saved for posterity - he celebrated that goal with finger points on both hands. colinmk
Strange statue considering how iconic and obvious the Shearer celebration was. Is Shepherd not well? Strange to lose that much weight at his age?

number9shirt
For those questioning the Shearer salute this is how he celebrated his record breaking goal http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160913/9258b7f8c4383c4771dd092e6f6253db.jpg
Gallowgate Toon
I know open palm was his most used one but I always associate him with the one the statue's based on, for some reason.

This whole 'he's done this celebration before' thing is a proper wind up like. It's not like people don't know that, it's just quite obviously not the celebration he's known for, that's the point. They wont put the hand up for fear of people thinking its a Nazi salute. I can't tell if you're being serious or not.
