Ronaldo
Any news on this lad? Don't think I can cope with another Perch substitution! Perch is just about athletic enough to play CDM, Williamson most certainly isn't.
Ritchie
Perch wouldn't have been on the bench if Williamson was, though and that would've led to Gosling rightfully coming on instead of him to fill in at midfield.

AyeDubbleYoo
To return to full fitness in two weeks. Hope he makes a full recovery, really like him and he's been unlucky to lose his place so comprehensively to Taylor. Great option IMO.

Yep. how ? if pardew would put him in midfield from the bench than gosling, could it not follow that he'd put him on the bench first as midfiled cover ? wormy
To return to full fitness in two weeks. Hope he makes a full recovery, really like him and he's been unlucky to lose his place so comprehensively to Taylor. Great option IMO. A more than adequate back up. Was more than happy for him to keep first choice spot next to Colo before Saylor came in and, fair play, exceeded pretty much everyone's expectations in the way he's played the last year. Rich
Glad he's back soon, amazed we've survived this long with no natural cover at centre-back. Also think he's more than decent enough, very much in the Guthrie mould in terms of cover for our first choices and he seems a great professional to boot. alexf
Was only really the liverpool away game last year where I've thought "man your shit" but then again suarez has made alot of defenders look stupid.
Benwell Lad
When I've watched Williamson he's come across as a reliable if unspectacular defender. Probably the best type really, as opposed to someone like Enrique who was spectacular on occasions but would give away possession in dangerous positions. Seems like a canny lad as well, will be good to have him back.
Mole_Toonfan
I like Williamson personally, thought he was really good last year ( management also thought so as Taylor was on the bench for months)...... Some cover in defence is what he will provide and would make me feel alot more comfortable knowing if something happens to Taylor or Colo on a match day ( aslong as its not long term ) we have someone ready to come in...... Still think we need a CB mind, every top side has 4 quality CB's and we should be no different going forward..... Taylor(Williamson) Colo(New CB) looks pretty good to me. ( Hopefully Ashley feels the same )
AyeDubbleYoo
Do you really think we can expect to have 4 "quality" CBs? Not many teams have that, especially ones not in Europe.

Well i rate Williamson quite highly so i think we have 3 already When i say quality i mean good enough for the league.
Sifu
Good news this Won't have to count on Perch as being the primary cover for CB now (although it looks like he's being used as more of an anchorman these days ) Williamson and perhaps another CB to be signed in January will do me for CB cover (could even add Kadar to that list). Guest BlacknWhiteArmy
Perch can do less damage in midfield. He's also vaguely quick. Some positives.
Tisd09
I thought last season he quite rightly kept his place over Taylor, but to be fair to Taylor he's been vastly improved this season and it will prove difficult for Williamson to get back in. Great news that he will be back soon. Seems a good solid pro.

He'll not get in the team at present, but it means we're no longer skating on such thin ice. Gives us options for the FA Cup too.
