The problem is we have quality in midfield and up front but only 3 decent defenders in the whole squad. Take Colo, Taylor and/or Santon out and we're forced to play vastly inferior players like Williamson, Ferguson (who i class as a winger), Perch (who definitely isn't a CB) and Tavernier.
