Guest
I could imagine what the reaction would have been as well if he'd said, "I wouldn't have a problem playing any of the other three". People would still whine about something about the quotes along the lines of he still rates Williamson. He hasn't criticised Williamson at all, he's just bigged up the other two's form. No more, no less. That's how I see it anyway.
Ketsbaia
“I’ve now got the luxury of having four centre-halves, three of whom are really playing well. The other guy (Mike Williamson) isn’t really going to get a chance now because the other three are playing so well “I don’t see any problem, if say, Colo (Fabricio Coloccini, Newcastle’s captain) got injured, because I could play the other two. I’ll put them all in the frame, but category one is our captain.” Read more: Journal Live http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2013/02/23/alan-pardew-magpies-stronger-for-trip-to-ukraine-61634-32864262/#ixzz2LidUQPmg Don't think I've ever liked Pardew more

Williamson isn't the best player, none of us need reminding of that, I'm sure Williamson doesn't need reminding either. Having said that, he's played loads of games for us when we needed him and Pardew shouldn't be saying things like that to the press. Agree. No matter how s*** a player is, the manager has to put belief in his players. He's had similar digs at Simpson and they've both served him well, especially last season. Poor from Pardew. I don't think many will doubt that we have 3 better players than Williamson, it didn't need Pardew to say it.
Dokko
I have absolutely no problem in him saying this. He's let us down too many times, he needs to know he's now emergency cover for the bench and if he has a problem with that he can start looking for a new club any time soon. We need to move away from this standard of player, he has his chances and blew them all and his mental weakness is a major factor in where we are now. Benwell Lad
I'm still of the opinion he can do a job as 4th choice, how many games did he play last season when we had many good defensive performances? He is nowhere near as bad as portrayed tbh, clearly not good enough to be a first choice but as 4th he is just fine. A very sensible post.
Unbelievable
"The other guy". I reckon those three words are the only reason why some on here are getting their panties in a twist. Replace that by "Mike" and there's absolutely nothing wrong with what he's said. All a bit pathetic really.

Somehow I doubt you'd feel the same way if your boss was having a go at you in public. As if Williamson was a major factor in where we are now. Incognito
Pardew shouldn't be washing his dirty linen in public...it's very disrespectful and amateurish.
Skeletor
How times change. Last year people were mocking the Mackems for saying Pardew was a cunt.
Crumpy Gunt
agree with the sentiment but he should have kept it to himself Stinks of the useless twat trying to pander to the masses to gain favour. If I was Williamson I'd be fucking livid.
Dave
It's not a big deal, just a bit unnecessary and disrespectful to a player who always gives his best when called upon (ie far too frequently) even if it isn't good enough. It's more about how he's said it than what he's saying. There's not one person including Williamson himself that doesn't know he's now fourth in line, but there's no need to rub his nose in it. alexf
I hated seeing Williamson in the line up as much as anyone but that's pathetic from Pardew. Taylor is injury prone and even Colo gets the odd hamstring strain plus any of them could get suspended between now and the end of the season. Could very easily still need to call on Mike in emergency.
Elliottman
Ive read the quotes about 4 times and I really dont see what people are getting the knickers in a twist about. Three of his four centre halves are playing very well and because of it Williamson isnt getting a look in. Whats the problem?
aussiemag
Tbf I think Pards would rather play Perch there by the sounds of it. Apparently he wants Curtis Good to be amongst the first team squad next season, pushing for a place. I'd rather see him out on loan. Last thing we need is another Fergie/Sammy. Apparently he wants Curtis Good to be amongst the first team squad next season, pushing for a place. I'd rather see him out on loan. Last thing we need is another Fergie/Sammy. There were some quotes in an article with Pards talking about the success of his loan, how it fantastic he's playing at wembley. That he should make the most of it, because he wants him to come in to the squad and challenge for a spot. These are quotes. It doesn't sound like he's anywhere near ready to play premier league footy. Especially with Saylor, Colo and Mbiwa all being top class.
