From 31/1/10

Peter Lovenkrands

Age: 30

Nationality: Denmark

Pros: Pacey striker, reads the game well and gets into good positions, experienced.

Cons: Would probably struggle to score 15 a season, gets bullied off the ball easily, wrong side of 30

Started          11 (9 league, 1 FA Cup, 1 League Cup)

Used as Sub  8   (7 league, 1 FA Cup)

Goals             6   (3 league, 3 FA Cup)

Shola Ameobi

Age: 28

Nationality: England

Pros: Doing well in Championship, would probably be our top scorer in Championship if he played regularly, experienced.

Cons: Not good enough for the Premier League, injured too often, gets knocked off the ball to easily for such a big bloke, 50p head.

Starting App    9  (8 league, 1 FA Cup)

Used as Sub   3   (1 league, 1 FA Cup, 1 League Cup)

Goals              8   (7 in league, 1 in League Cup)

Andy Carroll

Age: 21

Nationality: England

Pros: good in the air, can hold the ball up decent enough, only 21 so could improve still.

Cons: Poor as a lone striker, not clinical enough infront of goal & would probably struggle to get 15 a season.

Starting App    19 (17 league, 2 FA Cup)

Used as Sub   5    (4 league, 1 FA Cup)

Goals              6    (4 in league, 2 in FA Cup)

Nile Ranger

Age: 18

Nationality: England

Pros: good in the air, can hold the ball up quite well, only 18 so has quite a bit of potential.

Cons: Lacks a footballing brain, doesnt take enough chances for a striker, will be lucky to get 5 goals this season.

Started           7   (4 league, 1 FA Cup, 2 League Cup)

Used as Sub  21  (19 league, 2 FA Cup)

Goals             2    (both in league)

Totals

Stats in all comps

Started            46

Used as Sub    37

Goals               24

PLEASE SELECT THE TWO PLAYERS WHO YOU THINK SHOULD BE OUR STARTING 11 WHEN EVERYONE IS FIT.

So many shola votes and so few for Carroll?

Carroll wins almost every single header. Could be our Heskey with loven, guthrie, nolan and routledge chasing the flickons.

Yet he has the technique and finishing ability of a heavily pregnant walrus

Exactly, that's why I would never vote for Shola  :pow:

In account of the 4 (FOUR!!!) games I have seen this season it looks like you should put Carroll in there given all the crosses and high balls that you play... somebody has to chase them and the guy looked good at doing that at least. Then either Loven or Ameobi as the goalscoring forward. Not sure how Lovenkrands and Ameobi would complement each other as a pair. Again, it's only four games.

do you not think we play those crosses and high balls (mostly high balls) because he is playing ?
