He's also not the strongest. He's playing easily the best football of his career away from CM.

not too sure about that, his penultimate season at citeh was very good.

He was often played at the right wing then, if I'm not mistaken

Linked with Blaise Matuidi from St-Etienne according to RMC in France. Now he's a player I do like.

On 12 July 2007, it was confirmed by the media that Matuidi had agreed to join AS Saint-Étienne after agreeing to a four-year deal with the club.

That would mean that his contract runs out this summer?

From what I've read about him he'd be great competition for Tiote, and great cover during the ACON as he's played for the full France side.

It would - but he have had his contract extended.

St Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi has signed a contract extension with Les Verts until 2013.

He reportedly has a buy-out clause of some sort though.

Barton's ability has been apparent for quite a few years now.

I think his best position would be one of the wider players in a midfield three. Ideally, a wider player in a 4-4-2 should have a bit more pace and be better at tracking back to help out his full back. He tends to drift inside a lot, which is good in a way, because you get the full range of his passing, but then the shape of the side is affected.
