Ashley is a decent chairman to be honest. Only made two mistakes, Kinnear and sacking Hughton. I think he will splash the cash in the summer.

What about bringing the evil Denis Wise to the club ?

Or plastering the hideous red and blue sports direct  logo all over St James's ?

We look like a tame North-eastern version of Crystal Palace.

He is the owner.. a big issue is our Chairman fkn no clue about football ex casino manager Lambias... IF Ashlery had a football man in charge things may have gone a lot smoother.

We wont be spending anywhere near that amount on a CM unless he's replacing Tiote.

even if Guthrie, smith and Barton left?

Yes. Barton's not a CM anymore, and Guthrie and Smith can effectively be replaced/upgraded by Championship players.

I'd still quite like to see Barton get a proper go alongside Tiote in the middle with a competent team around him and see how he does.  Something like

               Barton    Tiote

New Player                       Jonas

                     Ben Arfa

                       Striker

Not saying it would work but would like to see if it would.

It's pretty much emerged this season that Barton's main strengths are negated in CM. His weaknesses are also badly exposed in that position.

Which are?

He's also not the strongest. He's playing easily the best football of his career away from CM.

not too sure about that, his penultimate season at citeh was very good.

He was often played at the right wing then, if I'm not mistaken

Linked with Blaise Matuidi from St-Etienne according to RMC in France. Now he's a player I do like.

On 12 July 2007, it was confirmed by the media that Matuidi had agreed to join AS Saint-Étienne after agreeing to a four-year deal with the club.

That would mean that his contract runs out this summer?

From what I've read about him he'd be great competition for Tiote, and great cover during the ACON as he's played for the full France side.

It would - but he have had his contract extended.

St Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi has signed a contract extension with Les Verts until 2013.

He reportedly has a buy-out clause of some sort though.
