taxfree
"Maiga is NOT seen as the new number nine though, with scouts continuing to search Europe to try and find a suitable candidate to take the revered shirt." Get that handsome bastard Giroud in then.

binnsy
While they still have Jon Obi Mikel and Essien on their books, plus Ramires and Raul Meireles I'm not sure it's as nailed on as one might think. Lampard is good for another season you'd think. exactly i think the Tiote to chelsea rumours are just paper talk, they will have Essien back soon and also have Mikel and ramires who play a similar role to Tiote, with Lampard getting on a bit i think they will be more focused on bringing an attacking midfielder in rather than a defensive one. well at least i hope so! Ronaldo
Tiote to Chelsea - nailed on to happen. Question is, how much? Ashley will have seen how well Guthrie has done and will now doubtlessly be rubbing his hands. Keep on selling your best players isn't a good thing at all. Care to explain why it is 'nailed on'? Been rumoured for a while and they will doubtlessly be looking to refresh parts of their ageing squad. And probably with better players than Cheick Tiote. Guest BlacknWhiteArmy
L'Equipe linking us with Giroud (who got a hattrick yesterday) again. Definitely a good player, but as we've all but sealed Maiga, I guess it won't happen. Not in January anyway. "After recruiting Yohan Cabaye, Sylvain Marveaux or Hatem Ben Arfa, Newcastle continues to scrutinize the Ligue 1. According to L'Equipe on Sunday, the Magpies have fallen in love with Olivier Giroud they supervise at each meeting." What's he like? Fuck it, I've decided he's good anyway. Sifu
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/nov/26/alan-pardew-newcastle Alan Pardew fears Newcastle may lose players in transfer window • Newcastle manager Alan Pardew fights to keep squad together • Rivals covet Cheik Tioté, Yohan Cabaye and Fabricio Coloccini Louise Taylor guardian.co.uk, Saturday 26 November 2011 22.59 GMT Alan Pardew has conceded he may lose one of his key players during the January transfer window. The Newcastle United manager knows Chelsea are one of several clubs casting covetous eyes at Cheik Tioté, his Ivorian midfield enforcer, while the France playmaker Yohan Cabaye and the Argentina central defender Fabricio Coloccini also have their admirers. "You're talking about Newcastle United – nothing is certain here," said Pardew, who is determined to do everything in his power to keep his high-flying squad together. "We could lose one of our great players, who knows? Some of the financial decisions are taken out of my hands. I want to strengthen in one or two areas but we'll have to be on our guard against one of our best players going when the window opens. You can never think you're OK. I learned that in my days at West Ham, but the Andy Carroll thing brought that home more vividly than most things." After Pardew had repeatedly reiterated that Carroll would be going nowhere last January, the striker was sold to Liverpool for £35m on transfer deadline day. "January is a horrible time," he said. "I don't think there's a Premier League manager, if he was honest with himself, who says he enjoys that period. Everyone starts manoeuvring and jostling, people get busy around the players. Agents want to earn their money around that period and they don't do themselves any credit in my view. It's horrible. "I actually preferred the old system, where there was no windows, where you could buy and sell at almost any time. I think that's a free market, I think that's how the world works – why are we different? I don't know. "I think the change to winter and summer windows was trying to take the advantage away from the bigger clubs but I don't think that's worked. It unsettles every club – not just me. "Every manager in the Premier League, no matter where you are, your best player will be being approached. And the way the system is – that you can't negotiate directly – means you have to have a middleman." tbh.

Dave
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2067851/Newcastle-close-Erik-Pieters-3m.html Newcastle hope to seal £3m deal for Pieters after taking second bite at Holland ace By Sportsmail Reporter Last updated at 10:46 PM on 29th November 2011 Newcastle are hoping to clinch a £3million deal for Holland international Erik Pieters, despite the defender breaking a foot playing against his former club Utrecht last month. The 23-year-old PSV Eindhoven left back, a friend of Newcastle keeper Tim Krul, was close to joining the club during the summer but the deal fell through. Now Pieters, who has 14 caps after taking over from Giovanni van Bronckhorst as Holland's first-choice left back, is keen to revive the deal and hopes to be fully fit by the end of the next transfer window in January.
