You must be the worst striking coach ever. Worse than Dean Saunders .
Foluwashola
I had high hopes for the guy, kept telling myself that he would come good. How frustrating. Aye, I keep thinking there must surely be a decent footballer trapped in that shell of a body. All hope is then destroyed when you see him play
TaylorJ_01
For such a good striker when he was younger he is horribly negative. Wonder what went wrong? /ferguson

Skeletor
I remember the home game against Derby where Smith fannied about twisting and turning but refusing to shoot and then the ball fell to Mark Viduka who just put it in the back of the net with ease. Village Idiot
Smith was playing the "make a nuisance of yourself" forward role, while Hasselbaink/Viduka were the out-and-out goalscorers. He was quite dynamic back at Leeds to be frank.

He was quite dynamic back at Leeds to be frank. He played wide right. Keane and Fowler got games up front ahead of him, as well as JFH and Viduka. I remember when he played a few games as a target man though, and he was dreadful.

Pilko
I remember at game at Wigan under Fat Sam where Smith was deployed as a 'holding midfielder' - in reality he was shoulder to shoulder with Steven Taylor as a third centre back.

Similarly the derby at Sunderland under Big Sam where he was given a man-marking job on Kenwyne Jones.

Doctor Zaius
He's knackered. That injury totally finished him. He's never been the same player since. He was quite a good player before that injury, a busy little forward who scored a few goals and generally made life difficult for centre halves. Guest firetotheworks
Everyone I know in Leeds swears by him. They thought he was class. I think a combination of him being moved to DM and getting that injury effectively ended his career as a striker, and as we soon found out, as anything other than a bad tackler. Ronaldo
He's a Leeds lad. The majority in Newcastle think Steven Taylor is class.
Mistle17
He had one game for us where, imo, he was outstanding- a 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal when Allardyce was in charge. Although he didn't score that night his work rate and hold up play/flick ons etc up front were fantastic and the Arsenal CB's couldn't cope. Shame he was never able to reproduce... But as Doctor Zaius said, the lad's knackered. He was out with quite a serious injury and combining that with the horrendous one he suffered whilst at Man Utd, it ultimately finished him off. His best days are long behind him.
