Good hopefully it'll mean we can save Tiote from a suspension and Pardew will see for his own eyes that Smith is nowhere near good enough to be kept on for next season....

Alan Smith hiding like a bastard during that whole spell of possession.

3-2 at that point.

Let's be honest...what was he going to do to stop West Brom? He can't tackle these days. He can't pass, and he can't hold the ball or run with it. We might as well have put Ole Sodeberg on the pitch, at least he can fucking run.

Aye, that wasn't the first time either unfortunately. Barton was yelling "keep the ball" at Enrique and Lua Lua, who were doing a very decent job of it penned up against the touchline towards their corner, while also dropping in and out to keep it going. Meanwhile, Smith, who was less than ten yards away seemed content to sit right on the back of one of their players, totally unavailable to contribute, instead of doing the same when all of the angles got closed out and they needed another option. Maybe he was protecting things if it broke down by covering the potential runner, but surely we're better off just keeping the ball in that situation anyway?

He's just got no confidence in his own ability, and hasn't since he arrived here really. He never wants the ball in the first place and when he does reluctantly receive it, he's naturally not going to look to do much with it aside from pass it sideways or backwards (often inviting more pressure onto a team-mate, when it would've been easier to simply keep it, play a different pass). He's not the best footballer anyway, but he's not even playing anywhere near that limited potential because of this and is just an absolute liability, fully-fit or half-fit.
