Rightly or wrongly, I do think winning the Carling Cup will go a long way to placating media and Kopites alike over Dalglish's underwhelming return on his investments so far. Ending a six year trophy drought, non? Not to be scoffed at.

Would be lovely to win, but Kopites don't need any placating.

It's King Kenny. He just isn't getting much in the way of stick from our own fans, and you know what LFC fans think of the media …

Yup. Whatever he does, he'll still be a legend at the club, so he has a lot of rope. But, I do think that if Liverpool don't qualify for the CL this year and don't start next year well, he may well resign. I don't think the owners would ever dare sack him.

More gems from the victimised scouse mongs...

Quite depressing really, isn't it? If it weren't for Demba Ba and Robin van Persie, Arsenal and Newcastle would be in the bottom half of the table. One of those players in our team this season and we'd probably be sitting in at least second.

If we'd won against Sunderland, Swansea, Norwich, Blackburn, Stoke, we'd be fourth, 5 points in front of Chelsea, 1 behind Spurs and 3 away from the top of the table.

you can make the "if we'd won against X side" argument if you're talking about a couple of games here and there, but they're not isolated slip ups if they happen over and over and over and over and over again.

One of those player? Like £35 million Andy Carroll? :yao:

But I heard all the opposition keepers have conspired to produce the games of their lives against Liverpool at Anfield, not that it's a case of Liverpool consistently producing shit finishing? It's almost as though they're not as good as they think they are. Shocking.

And it's been going on for years …

Year in, year out, we do well enough against the sides at the top of the league and then fail to win the theoretically easier games.

Aye, shit finishing. We usually create chances aplenty, but just can't make them count.

This guy is on crack, he demands more creativity, goals, etc... but plays 5 at home against Stoke. Clueless jock scouse moroncunt.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish demands more creativity

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has urged his side to be more creative after they were held 0-0 at home by Stoke.

"The responsibility was on us to be more imaginative to break them down and we didn't manage to do it," he said.

"The couple of opportunities we got we didn't take and in a game like that you have to take them."

Liverpool have scored just 24 goals in 21 Premier League games this season, 32 fewer than leaders Manchester City.

The draw to Stoke was the seventh time in 11 Premier League home games that Liverpool have had to settle for a draw.

Their repeated failure to convert pressure into points at Anfield could leave them four points off European qualification if fifth-placed Arsenal win their game in hand away against Swansea on Sunday.

Liverpool began the game with three centre-halves - Martin Skrtel, Sebastian Coates and Jamie Carragher - and both record signing Andy Carroll and fellow striker Craig Bellamy on the bench in spite of the absence of the banned Luis Suarez.

But Dalglish insisted that the formation was largely influenced by the health of his squad.

"We left Daniel Agger out as a precaution, Jose Enrique had a bit of stomach virus so we were lucky to get him to play; we didn't have too many options," he added.

"The boys at the back looked pretty comfortable - but they were only playing against one person."

EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool set to offer Spurs £10m for Defoe

by Nicko

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is ready to test Tottenham with a £10million offer for unsettled Jermain Defoe.

Dalglish is looking to shake up his attack this month after Liverpool’s faltering form has left them struggling to finish in the top four.

The proven scoring record of Defoe would add a new dimension to the Anfield attack – and Liverpool hope to agree a fee with Spurs despite the Londoners’ title ambitions. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp wants a new striker himself and watched Marseille’s Loic Remy yesterday.

If Redknapp adds a new face, that would push Defoe further down the pecking order and nearer the White Hart Lane exit.

Defoe needs more games to keep his England Euro hopes alive and Dalglish can offer him that on Merseyside.

Dirk Kuyt was the shock choice for the central striker’s role against Stoke in Saturday’s goalless draw, with Luis Suarez banned and Andy Carroll and Craig Bellamy on the bench.

Defoe’s scoring prowess would help at Anfield, where seven draws have cost Liverpool dear.

Carroll further down the pecking order?

 I think he's fucking quality, man. Best striker you funny talkers have.

He gets goal because he's quick and gets into good positions, but his drawback is that he tries to smash the ball as hard as he can whenever he tries to finish. He's a bit hit and miss for a "natural finisher" that the media portray him as.

No surprise to see that as he's gotten older (and lost half a yard of pace) he's no longer automatic first choice - he doesn't offer enough from his all round game.
