quayside
I feel a bit sorry for Raylor too but after seeing Perch a few times last season (albeit on the box) I believe he can only get better. Yeah ok so he has made some silly errors BUT lets give him a bit of a chance here, whats her played now? 3 premier league games in his entire career? He played 3 games on the telly last season. Once against you lot, and twice against Blackpool where he got destroyed and was at fault for five out of the six goals we conceded, so dunno where you got that from! Shame to see he's struggling, albeit not surprising. Definitely expecting a bit much of a player to start him for all of your opening games in a position which over the past few years, he's barely played in, and yet expect him to be solid. Hopefully he'll improve, but some slack does still need to be cut. He is not our first choice right back and was bought as a squad player. He's only getting games now because of injuries. My call would be for S Taylor to fill the right back slot when he returns with Simpson as second choice leaving Perch as a squad utility defender. Guest
Saw in one of the papers in the "Bad Boy" table, that Perch has made 4 fouls in 4 games, and been booked for all 4. (that's not including the stone wall penalty at Wolves either)
Ronaldo
I'd be tempted to pick Campbell if fit and move Williamson to RB until Taylor or Simpson get fit. Perch may turn out to be an ok squad player, but he's just a liability atm.
binnsy
if i was going to shift the back 4 around it would be Colo i moved to RB, he's played there before and i wouldn't fancy Williamson there one bit.

Wullie
Everton's main threat, as they showed on Saturday, is their left hand side. Expect him to get tortured and put your house on him picking up yet another yellow card.

papo
Is Simpson really better than Perch?
James
Is Simpson really better than Perch? Probably about the same, but Simpson is a specialist right back. I don't think Perch has specialised in any position, therefore while he could be ok all round defensive cover, he'll have some deficiency wherever he plays. Not a bad shout. When's the last time he played there though? It'll most likely be Ryan Taylor to come in. I still maintain Steven Taylor is the best right back at the club, he walks into the team at right back if he's fully fit. I'm just not convinced by the other three defensively, and they certainly don't offer enough going forward to make up for it. The Perch signing is a bit of a strange one as was the Leon Best signing. Players we didn't espescially need.
junkhead
Imo, Perch has looked ok so far.. He has deserved his cards and probably could've had a couple more but overall, he seems like a better tackler than Simpson.. Ryan Taylor shouldn't be anywhere near the RB place, he's hopeless defensively.. I have faith that Perch will turn to be a useful player, I just think he's a bit unlucky to be thrown at the deep end from the start..
Flip
OK? Are you serious, stop it, although he's new and i expect him to play much better when adapted he has still been shit so far, awful performances until now.

The Villa one was unlucky, him & their player went to head the ball & their guy fell over & Perch got booked, was right infront of me

The Villa one was unlucky, him & their player went to head the ball & their guy fell over & Perch got booked, was right infront of me well, yeah.. and the Man U one was a bit harsh iirc.. but he has pretty much deserved at least a yellow in each game he's played for us (including the couple of friendlies I've seen). Still, I think he offers us more defensively than Simpson, whose constant backing-off the opposition winger won't get us far in the Premier League.. and like I said, Ryan Taylor can't tackle or god forbid, man mark players, playing him in defence would be suicidal against any kind of decent oppo.. I'm not his biggest fan but we'll be much more solid with Stevie Taylor at RB, hopefully the contract situation will be resolved..

It's why I reckon Routledge will be dropped and HBA brought in - he's not been brilliant at tracking back and covering the fullback this season and will probably be used as a scapegoat for Perch's clear faults. Fenham Mag
Hopefully he gets his 5th yellow to coincide with Taylor returning as its the only way i see Hughton putting him RB. Saying that he'll probably put Ryan Taylor there instead.

The Prophet
Ryan Taylor is decent from the dead ball but bar that he has nothing to his game.
buzza
What about Cambell at the back and Colo as right back? Give Enrique the right to maraud and we convert to three at the back?
Shak
Ryan Taylor does give you something going forward, arguably the best crosser of a ball in our squad. He's an absolute liability at the back though, but then again Perch has been as well so far. So I'd be tempted to start Ryan Taylor as he at least contributes something positive to the team. Steven Taylor is the best RB at the club though and the only one I think is good enough to play there in the Premiership without being a weak link. ElDiablo
Would be tempted to shove Coloccini across there. He's played there plenty of times before albeit not for a while but with Campbell in the frame I think it's something Hughton should think about.
