Hatem Ben Arfa

just occurred to me. being that we're in a a bit of a precarious position in the table, spending 5 million on a player who isnt going to be properly fit until march could be quite a gamble. that's assuming that we're not gonna spend much more during the window, but that's not too much of a leap of faith.

I know that people are a bit worried about Ben Arfa Not being the player he used to be because of the break but a good example to use woul;d be Van Nistelrooy. When Man Utd where fiorst going to buy him didnt he bust his knee in training and injure himself for several months only to come back and be, arguably, ONE of the best players the premiership has had.

That was a completely different kind of injury though.

Why the facepalm? I was aware you mentioned the fact Van Nistelrooy had a knee injury, but it's f*** all to do with Ben Arfa's current circumstance.

I was using RvN as an example of how a player can come back better. I realise that HBA's injury is nothing like his but it was purely an example that I used. After all I wasn't going to use Dave Busst as the example..........

I've never to this day stomached up the courage to watch that video. I know somebody (insanely squeamish tbf) who threw up after seeing it so I gave it a miss.

Peter Scmeichel just about threw up. He was in a hell of a state. I remember seeing pictures after the incident and they were awful.

walked off to the side of the pitch (by the corner flag) and stayed there with his hands over his eyes.

Just watched it, can't really see much from the video, but looking at the pictures, fucking hell. Schmeichel is pretty fucking upset by it all as well (what a save from the header though, Krul esque).

See if you can find a still photo for the real effect - an Australian sports magazine showed it a year or so ago, and to be honest I could have done without the reminder! Shocking at the time, no less so after the passage of time...

Busst's testimonial was a good night.Coventry Select vs Man United. It was Cantona's last game in a Man United shirt before retiring, whilst the Coventry side had Sir Les up front and Gazza, trying to gain fitness for Euro 96,alongside Gary McAllister in midfield.

EDIT:I remember Jordi Cruyff being worse than turboshite that night too.

^ I didn't know that.

One of the lads I work with was at the match that Busst broke his leg, former Man United season ticket holder, said it was the most horrific thing he's ever seen. He said it took about 30mins to try and treat Busst and get him off the pitch, and that the match should have been called off
