One of his best performances in recent times like bar a few dodgy moments. Thought he and Cabaye commanded the midfield well enough (certainly in the first 40 minutes anyway) - reminded me of their CM performance against Man U in Janaury 2012.

He needs to be told one thing though - to stop having a shot outside the 18 yard box.

That pass he smashed out to Remy was lovely just a shame Remy misconstroled it.

The best and worst of him was on display today. He put in some great tackles, was very firm and strong on and off the ball, drove the team forward at times, but he had two or three horrendous passes in dangerous zones of the pitch (this cannot happen), was caught on the ball, and rash in forward positions. It is fine that the boy can't shoot, this isn't his job, but he needs to be moving the ball to more capable players unless his shot is the only option.

Turns out he was an inspired choice as captain today. Thought he broke up play superbly and drove the team on really well. Guess there will always be the odd rick with Cheiky, but the last two games look a promising return to his long lost form.

If he plays like that every game I would afford a speculative and s**** strike at goal.

Weren't his most horrible decisions either regarding shooting. Ball bounced back from the box, didn't mind him trying to shoot from there as it could always take a heavy deflection and go in. On the other one he probably should've passed but he created the chance himself and was already on the edge of the box. Poor execution on both but IMO weren't bad decisions.

Pointless post, he was good.

It's funny how he generally has his best games against the top sides. He's one of those players that shouldn't feel he's guaranteed a spot IMO. Pards is a bit too accommodating of his sloppy football when he starts thinking he's better than he is. When he's switched on and keeping it simple, he's still a dominating midfield presence.
