So he is on his 5th yellow card right? How many more before the automatic suspension kicks in?

5

10 yellow cards before automatic suspension??

After a certain point in the season (which has passed already), aye. (First Team Competitive Matches (FTCM))

(i) If a Player accumulates five cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and 31 December (including any FTCM played on that day) in the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering: - One First Team Match

(ii) If a Player accumulates five cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the last day of the same Season, he will be: - “Warned as to his Future Conduct”

(iii) If a Player accumulates ten cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the second Sunday of April in the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering:- Two First Team matches

(iv) If a Player accumulates ten cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the last day of the same Season, he will be: - “Severely Censured and Warned as to his future Conduct”

(v) If a Player accumulates 15 cautions in FTCM between the opening date of the Playing Season and the last day of the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering: - Three First Team matches

(vi) A Player who has already been subject to disciplinary action as a result of receiving five, ten and 15 cautions, and who goes on to receive 20 cautions in FTCM in the same Season, shall be required to attend a meeting of a Regulatory Commission, within seven days of the date of the last caution. The Members of a Regulatory Commission will have the power to deal with the Player in such manner as they deem fit. The same procedure will apply for every further five cautions received by that Player.

(vii) Any period of suspension arising from cautions will commence forthwith. The suspension will cover all approved First Team matches until such time as his Club’s First Team has completed the number of matches appropriate to the punishment in approved Competitions during the period covered by its opening league match and ending with the final match in which the Club is playing in an approved domestic Competition.

(viii) Any period of suspension or part thereof which remains outstanding at the end of a Season must be served at the commencement of the next following Season.

Interesting tale from a mate at work.  His mate was at a dinner/talk in or something with Pardew on Thursday and apparently anytime Tiote has an injury, before he classes himself as match-fit the club have to fly in Tiote's witch doctor to give him the all clear.

This week, for some reason they couldn't get the Witch doctor over to him so Tiote was going to have to fly back to Africa to see him.  Mike Ashley put on a private jet and Tiote was all ready for going but he gets a text on his phone (as he's about to board) from said Witch Doctor, turns to Pardew and say's "It's ok gaffer, I'm fit to play."

Not sure how true it is as it's mental but highly plausible given how superstitious/religious some people are.

Newcastle star: Champions League? Why not us?

Published 22:30 02/04/12 By Simon Bird

Cheick Tiote has insisted that confidence is running so high at Newcastle they can target a top-four finish.

The midfield enforcer was back to his best helping the Geordies beat Liverpool at the weekend and says overhauling Arsenal and Spurs is within reach after a remarkable season on Tyneside.

Boss Alan Pardew has played down hopes of a Champions League place, and says that realistically Newcastle can hope for a Europa League spot instead.

That will automatically be achieved if they finish fifth. Sixth place might be good as long as both FA Cup finalists have qualified for Europe, meaning the place is passed to the league.

That effectively means Newcastle need Liverpool to beat Everton in a fortnight in the FA Cup semi-final to open up an easier route through sixth place.

Ivory Coast star Tiote said: “Getting into Europe is the biggest thing for us now and it is very important for us as players and for Newcastle as a club.

“The first target is obviously the Europa League, but why shouldn’t we be thinking about the Champions League as well? Who knows, it could happen.

“We have got ourselves into a good position, but all talk about Europe will mean nothing if we don’t keep winning.

“If we qualify for Europe, I will look back on this season as one of the best in my career.

“It has not always been easy because I have had a few injuries and I missed a few games because I was playing in the Africa Cup (of Nations).

“But now I want to do everything I can in the games that remain because we can still achieve some really big things.

“We expect to win every game we play at the moment. We are in a very confident mood right throughout the team.

“Everyone is working very hard for each other, and that is the main reason why we are doing so well.

“If we win every game for the rest of the season, it won’t matter what other teams do.”

Tiote will be one of several United players linked with moves away in the summer.

But with European football on offer, a top-six finish on the cards and 52,000 full-house home crowds, there will be few bigger clubs to move to.

Key will be the summer transfer business with a left back, centre back and central midfielder being targeted.

New recruits have settled quickly this season and Tiote praised striker Papiss Cisse.

He added: “Papiss has been brilliant for us. You expect him to score in every game, and that is what he is doing.

“Papiss is full of confidence and that is great to see.”

I think if we avoid defeat at Stamford Bridge and beat Swansea on Friday we will finish 5th.......

Mainly because iam really confident we will win the 3 games in between those games.

its the last 3 games that worry me,  not many harder games [...].  Be interesting if it went down to the final weekend though as while Everton is tough they shouldn't have anything to play for but Chelsea are playing Blackburn who might need to win or get a result to stop up.

Feared an average display for him as he'd been out however thought it was possibly his best performance of the season. Maybe a break after the ACN is what he needed.

Blatantly going to Chelsea in the summer.

Yes she did, and so did you when you quoted it.

Tiote playing like he did on Sunday makes him one of the best in the league in his position. He did everything on Sunday, like he did against Man Utd, the two outstanding games this season for him. Its been a tough 2nd season for him but I think he comes out of it with his reputation in tact. It may even work out in our favour that he hasn't been as spectacular this season as last, maybe he has dipped below the radar of big clubs like "Liverpool" :) :)
