I've no great hatred of Villa but it's absolutely excellent for us that we not only got CL but potentially stuck a dagger into their progress (if it's true they have to sell etc).

I wonder if we might nick a player off them before the PSR deadline.

Hope they get horribly low-balled by everyone and have to flog their prime assets for a pittance.

Don't they'd sell to us out of spite unless we bid way more than others, so hopefully we just look elsewhere. I've little interest in bailing them out.

Probably already mentioned on one of the other threads, but remember Martinez doing a similar foul on Miggy in the opener last season, and wasn't red carded. Probably due to Miggy being closer to the touchline, but the intention was the same as he did to Hoiland yesterday.

Honestly, the way Emery was jumping around on the touchline when it happened, there is absolutely no way he could have seen from where he was that it was actually a foul, and then the way he went on when the penalty was given (exaggerated applause for the ref). Absolute tool.

Used to quite like him but he said something a few weeks back which came across as quite arrogant. I can't find the actual quote now but if I remember correctly it seemed to shift any credit for their season onto him and away from the players. At the time I put it down to a translation thing, but the way he was going on yesterday made me think otherwise. He's obviously a very decent coach but having been a fan of Eddie since his Bournemouth days I'm so glad Emery turned us down.

Just watching the footage of Emery going mental yesterday, I've always thought he looks a little bit like Nic Cage and it reminded me a lot of that scene when he loses it in Vampire's Kiss.

It's nowhere near the howler it's being blown up to be.

I think its a mistake, however at one point the keeper does have both hands on it like so can see why the ref blew up, its not that much of an error. I'd say it's a 60/40 in favour of it being a mistake.

No problem with him blowing up right away either, if you think you've seen a foul you're not going to wait to let the other team score before blowing.

Anyone got a video?

Villatalk is hilarious at the moment. Conspiracies abound. Apparently our owners have been influencing officials against them

Not been doing a very good job of it based on Villa's recent form up until yesterday :)

Is it even that bad of a mistake?

I think it's getting totally blown out of proportion because it's the last game of the season. If this happens in any other month of the season it gets moved on from pretty quickly.

There was that Liverpool mistake that was similar in the ref blew too quickly and that went on for literally weeks.

Nah. You might as well wait - just in case. It was bad refereeing

That's Liverpool though, every other pundit and every other journalist in the media supports them so anything related to them gets dragged on. Same with Man Utd.

Just look at the Awoniyi injury a couple weeks ago. He could've actually died, yet that's been forgotten about now, why was there not more outrage about that decision to play on from the lino when he was clearly offside.
