69 goals in 300 appearances ffs

thats shocking.

Whats shocking is that he's been in our first team for the last 10 years!!

True, talk about learning your lesson. Only thing i can think of is that he's benefited from the managerial turnover, no one here long enough to deal with him in recent years.

Bobby once said that him and Lua Lua would one day replace Shearer and Bellamy.

If Lua Lua didn't leave he would have been right

If Lua Lua didn't intensely piss off the entire fanbase of Newcastle United in one match when on loan for Pompey, he might have had a future at the club!

Ameobi is just thoroughly dogshit!

Yeah, how dare he score for the club he was playing for at the time?!

IIRC he celebrated and quite over the top it was too (that wasn't originally meant as a pun but if he did do a flip then I did actually mean it).

Bureaucratic f*** p with him being allowed to play if I recall.  What with that and Bowyer not being able to serve out his European ban as he hadn't been registered.  If those things happened under Del we'd be gannin mental

Poor today - great on his day.  His day is becoming annonyingly infrequent though

Becoming?

We've had over ten years of this rubbish, man. Funny his 'day' always seems to arrive when we're playing Wolves or Reading.

Just interested to see what you guys think, what other teams in the Premiership, would Shola start for?

In fairness even without replacing Carroll, with Ben Arfa and Best fit I'd hope he wouldn't be first choice for us right now. But out of the whole league all the teams playing 1 up have at least one better striker in their squad, the teams playing 2 have at least 2 so, possibly excepting Blackpool and their out-of form forward line, none.

Elmander in on a free to replace him would be the perfect step forward for us but I can't see it happening, Pardews not been here long enough to complete the mysteriously drawn out process of losing patience with him yet.

He has had games this season where he has showed he can still be a threat

However, he should be 4th choice striker

1) New

2) new

3) best

4) shola

I'd rather have someone a bit younger and more consistent. Shola's only going to get worse tbh

don't forget pardew's said ben arfa will likely be playing off a lone striker next season, we'll get one to go straight into first team imo

In an ideal world we'd be letting Ameobi, Lovenkrands, Shefqi and Ranger (loan) leave in the summer, but we won't have that much financial clout behind us sadly.

But at this stage unless we want to settle for mediocrity- something the people that run this club are more than content with- we've got to be forgetting the likes of Ameobi etc. Or at the very least put him right down the pecking order. He's been absolutely woeful in the last couple of games and considering he's one of the few players with a proper, strong physical presence in our side he's a waste of space.

Lua Lua still could have had a future, he refused to come back once his loan was over when we had massive injury problems.  We also asked Caldwell to come back from Leeds and he did even though he knew he was probably finished at the club.

G1: Shearer and Bellamy

G2: Shola and Lomana

G3: Sam and Kazenga

Shola is ok to fill in for a couple of games, but you are never going to get him scoring goals over a stretch longer than that. Look at Best in contrast...whatever anyone says about his overall game he looks like he will get in the box and get goals.
