AyeDubbleYoo
His main crime was being a crap footballer. I still think it's a bit weird though, surely even someone who's 3rd or 4th choice in the PL should walk League One.

Lots of fringe players in the Premier League are only in the league because they are local to the club they're at, Shola, Ramage in the past or alternatively in the league because they got promoted with a club, for example Stephen Ward at Wolves and now Burnley wouldn't be a good player in League 1. Shola is also nearly 35 now
James
He was a good player up to about 2005. Not a world beater but good enough to be a 3rd choice Newcastle striker. What happened then I always think is unfair on Shola as especially the fans have forgotten the sacrifice he made. He injured his hip, he should have had surgery right away but instead Souness and Roeder and the clubs medical staff persuaded him to put himself on the line for his club and slave away on the left wing with pain killing injections for over two years. He wasn't training half the time he was so bad yet he did what he did because the managers asked him to help the club. Ultimately by the time he got to have surgery, he fucked his leg up so bad he stopped becoming a viable footballer. This man gave far more heroism to this club than most ever will and paid the ultimate price.
Klaus
I would actually be happy it if we brought him back. Hes shit, but i love the man.
STM
Doesn't matter how much of a nice guy he might have been, he was absolute shite for the majority of his time here. Not his fault, mind, it was a succession of shite managers and coaches who persistently put him on the pitch. Sadly Shola just reminds me of a dark time, where the club buried it's head in the sand about the quality of player actually required at the top level. It's a virus the club can't seem to shake off, although at least we know Rafa won't fall foul to it.

Dr Venkman
Used to absolutely hate him as a footballer but by all accounts a canny lad. Happy for him to be alive; just don't come anywhere near NUFC ever again.

Troll
This man gave far more heroism to this club than most ever will and paid the ultimate price. He played for his hometown club for 14 years, he didn't die on the beaches of Normandy.
Norseman
From dictionary.cambridge.org pay the ultimate price › to die because of something you have done, especially something you do for moral reasons: These soldiers have paid the ultimate price for their country's freedom. John P
I think what he was going for was 'ulitmately paid the price.' Still a load of bollocks, just slightly less insane than the meaning of the original post.

Crumpy Gunt
Looked like a star in the making before the hip injury fucked him. Remember Shola and Lua Lua v Leverkuson in Chamions League. Shearer, Bellamy, Shola and Lua Lua looked a promising quartet of power and speed. Shola played a season with a bad injury which his hip never fully recovered. (Under Souness iirc) He needed major surgery which he held off until other options became available. He came back and looked like he couldn't play 90 minutes. He must be close to the most subbed player to ever play for NUFC.

cubaricho
Looked like a star in the making before the hip injury fucked him. I think that's what James was referring too. Played injured to help the team and fucked his hip up permanently because of it.
