oldtype
As good as his form is and as much as I love him, we probably should have an eye on buying a specialist holding midfielder if we are to continue with this 4-2-3-

Keefaz
Current role really seems to suit him. Doesn't have to do anything too technically or creatively taxing, and makes best use of his positive attributes.
colinmk
As good as his form is and as much as I love him, we probably should have an eye on buying a specialist holding midfielder if we are to continue with this 4-2-3-1 Why? Tiote is the destroyer and Jonas is more the box to box midfielder of the three. His attributes suit this role down to the ground imo. His workrate is exceptional. buzza
Think it was Cajun who compared him to Man U's Fletcher, and I think that comparison is spot on for Jonas in this formation. Absolutely transformed his value to this team playing central. Looks to be really enjoying himself too. Woah!!! No way! Fletcher can't pass a ball to save his life, does the covering bit and play break up but loses more possession than accomplishing passes... I liked Jonas on the left wing, thought he offered us an outlet but him in the middle is perfect, he's our player of the season alongside Colo... Man-love declared! Pilko
Remember that Stoke game like it was yesterday. One of the worst managerial performances i've ever witnessed from a Newcastle manager, that. Even if you ignore the glaring error of having no midfielder on the bench, the correct thing to do was put on a third striker, go 4-3-3 and have some fun against a piss-poor Stoke side. wp Joe
Pata
He looks like a senior pro in out team, someone the other players look up to. I actually put that down to how he has been managed and Pardew giving him the captaincy on a couple of occasions. I just started laughing randomly thinking about Jonas' serious HT talks. 'Noo, noo way......' I mean the guy has the funniest voice and speaking style. Add to that the probable Spiderman mask in his balls.
Sifu
He's as professional as it gets really. He plays wherever he's asked to and more often than not, does well in whatever role he's in. Never complains as well. Think we've found his best position in CM/DM and I would be happy if our first choice midfield three next season consisted of himself, Tiote and Cabaye. One thing I do particularly like about Jonas is his ability to win free kicks (à la Shearer imo), it's a massive benefit to the team as it ultimately relieves pressure. Seems to be the right personality to have around the club, you can't help but love him. His smile
Sima
Change in position seems to have revitalised him and made him a core member of the first XI in the process.
Guest Howaythetoon
I've been saying for a while he's made for the centre. I retract what I said previously btw, he's not the odd man out. It's working, him playing where he is, and he's playing really well in that role. We look a really balanced side. Having Tiote in there helps mind. Kanji
I've been saying for a while he's made for the centre. I retract what I said previously btw, he's not the odd man out. It's working, him playing where he is, and he's playing really well in that role. We look a really balanced side. Having Tiote in there helps mind. To add to that, I think seasons ago when he first signed with us he was def. more at home as a winger, and to me, looks like he's lost a bit of his pace and acceleration since then. But in that, I think he's actually become stronger and as the years have gone by, he's adapted his game and playing style to which it is now more suited to the position he is playing in our centre of the park next to Tiote. Brilliant work-rate, close-control, quick short passing and does all the things right on the defensive side. He's 100% needed in our starting lineup for now, and if we are to sign another player to play this role in the off-season, then so be it - but we'd be hard pressed to find someone so versatile, so good at retaining possession, soaking up pressure and winning vital freekicks all over the pitch that really helps us control and dictate matches.
