Sifu
Fully support Jonas over this. The way he was treated here was disgusting. Hope he rinses the fuck out of a disgrace that is this football club.
GM
I've just been challenged by a lawyer mate on Facebook asking so what's his actual "case". Actually, on a point of law, do any of us actually know what his 'case' is? Is there a substantive legal case or is it just a matter of us all being (rightly) indignant about the disrespectful, disgraceful way the club treated him when he was battling cancer? I suppose there would only be a 'case' if he could prove there's been discrimination against him on the basis of disability - but given every single player is required to be in the prime of fitness, and if they get ill or injured, they're insured. So, what is his 'case'?
Interpolic
Well we dunno. Doubt he'd sue them just for the sake of looking like a tit.

djmattis
I searched for "Jonas Gutierrez porn" to find a picture of something looking like him banging the club. Quite interesting result.

If that's all we've got to go on then this should be quite an interesting case - most probably of the 'open and shut/GTF out of here' variety, I'd guess. Or it could be as significant as Bosman... Heron
I suspect contractually they'll have it in there to save the from Jonas. I fully expect the PFA to be all iver this though so it will no doubt get interesting. Fucking love Jonas
AyeDubbleYoo
You would think his legal dudes would have examined his contract and believe he has a case. Would love to know the details.

GM
Possible aye, but it's a pretty big deal to sue someone. But suing for £2m? Didn't strike me as being that big a sum for someone who'd been earning £50k a week. Is he after an extra year's wages or something?
midds
You would think his legal dudes would have examined his contract and believe he has a case. Would love to know the details. He's not suing them for breach of contract though, it's disability discrimination so they could well have adhered to the contract. Reading between the lines, always dangerous, it's the fact they binned him almost as soon as he had the op. As in, "we've kept it quiet, quick, find yourself another club before it returns and/or you die mate. Cheers bro." We're run by despicable people. Remember Derek 'you guys don't know how fucking horrible we can be' Llambias?

Ste
Making him pay for his own medical fees was just disgusting. Jonas went on record and said he was happy to pay for his bills himself.
M1tche
I personally don't see why the club should pay for his medical bills, for a non football related injury. I wouldn't expect my boss to pay for my medical bills in any situation that didn't involve a work related injury, that was in some way his fault. Hanshithispantz
A football club should foot the bill in order to keep their players fit like, at the very least.

Surely a footballer has health insurance (arranged by the club) in their contract? Most decent jobs these days come with private medical cover
James
The club wouldn't have paid his wages (covered by insurance) so I'm sure the medical fees could have been easily paid. More likely this is to be an issue of how he was treated as a person.
