When we play teams who actually try to attack us we deal with it well and exploit the space that's created by their attacking play.  When we come up against teams who pack the defence and midfield and sit 10 men behind the ball we really struggle to break them down.  It's why we needed a player like Ben Arfa this season, someone who could create something out of nothing.

If we'd scored first tonight, forcing Blackburn to come and attack us it would have created the space that we need to play football.  Them scoring first just allowed that fat cunt to let his side sit back and hit us on the break.

Until we can find another player like Ben Arfa we're always going to struggle against teams like Blackburn and Stoke.

agreed. and when the focus is on us to go and attack it can leave us vulnerable at the back - we're not all sitting back, staying organised and keeping possession as against arsenal or everton.

The team just came off 2 high energy games that they won, especially the Arsenal away game, may have just been tired and flat, we are 6th with a decent goal differential, hopefully we can pull out the game againt fulham.

hard to break down a 1-9-1 formation, just think the the lads were tired and will bounce back

You cannot always win away with top teams, and when we start losing those games we'll terribly miss these easy points we should have done.

These are the games we will miss ben arfa badly.

Sorry Edit.

Good point. Desperate lack of spark/creativity out of there.

6 defenders for Blackburn though, they didn't give much space for much creativity.  Fucking horrendouslly negative tactics, but they got chances and took them.

Anyone noticed the lack of subs Hughton has been making in recent games.  Is this due Hughton not trusting those on the bench?

possibly but the standard on the bench is pretty poor. An off form Routledge, a untried Ranger, a not up to it Lovenkrands/Guthrie.

Aye but aside from Jonas and Jose we have noone who drives at the defenders with the ball which is where HBA would be useful.

Then should we be in the transfer market in January then?
