Think the Swansea game we won, which was a slightly higher scoring version of the 1-0 wins we used to have vs Spurs when Krul had a blinder illustrated it best. One of the few times in my life when Newcastle has been a shining ray of light during a shit time though, which is something I guess. One of my mates won a canny amount during that run - he used to put £20 on Ciisse 1st and 2-0 scorecast - off top of my head, Chelsea, Liverpool and Swansea! Paully
32 (Jesus!) years ago - one of my favourites homes - Leicester 7-1 and the non-stop debut of the Andy Cole song! Scoring a hat-trick and not getting the match ball is quite a feat!
Bizza
40 years since the Bradford City fire. Terrifying how quickly it spreads. And that poor cunt just walking along on fire R.I.P to the 56 that went out to watch the football and never came home.

One of my neighbours was lost that day. I was supposed to be in the main stand with my girlfriend. Ended up in my usual standing spot. The walk home was silence everywhere. My whole street was out when we returned, I just sat and cried on the wall outside my house.
Scoreboard82
6 years (on the 12th May) since Rafas farewell on that glorious sunny day at Craven Cottage. A 4-0 romp. We were looking so good at the end of that season. Was interesting reading the report on nufc.com and talk of the possibility of Rafa being replaced by some has been, happy to tow the line. That's almost what we got except Bruce never was anything, so not quite a has been. It was the day of the flotilla up the Thames too. I can remember watching from a pub and a Chelsea fan was commending us for how good that was. Edited May 13, 2025 by Scoreboard82

Yeah I remember that game ending thinking we'd push top 7-8 the following season, Rafa about to stay on. Then Ashley did his usual. I was also thinking we'd maybe get an Arteta to replace him and we'd still do okay on the pitch. Nope, here's Steve Bruce. Lol. I actually think that summer was the most soul sucking of all Ashley ones because I stupidly enjoyed the Rafa ride. The Bruce appointment just proved he wasn't even trying. A documentary about the fire that had been on BBC 2 on Sunday. From the 1st sighting of any smoke to the whole stand being destroyed took about 5 mins. Loads naturally made their way to the back of the stand but with turnstiles etc locked there was no escape. Unimaginable the horror they must have went through. I'm sure myself and many other toon fans had sat in that stand when we played them in the league cup earlier that season. R.I.P to the 56 cruelly taken. HaydnNUFC
Whilst navigating the transfer market is worlds different from what it was in the 90s, I’d hope the same attitude is going on behind the scenes up top currently.

Fak
It's a form of self torture checking the "On this day" section of NUFC.com A decade today since Pav died 12 years since Arsenal tanked us 7-3 23 years since Dabizas' beauty of an OG at home to Spurs All of the above seem like they all happened 5 years ago. Where has the time gone ffs

Werid, same here - its a memory of mine that at the height of KK era mania, season ticket, most away games (going to Norwich in a few days), having just recieved one of our keepers shirts for Christmas, me and two mates (also Newcatle fans) were in the local mall and heard commentary coming from Clarks shoe shop as we passed, looked at each other and said "are we playing today!?" What a game to miss though. Was great in a way, 22 team PL and a deluge of games over Christmas different days and start times that you coud lose track. Match of the Day the following day covering it all felt epic. Edited December 29, 2025 by Jonas

Same season Luton away the dodgy cable boxes in Washington went off and missed the game, knew we would lose from that point onwards.
