He has also said that he wants a player with a good delivery.

Ultimately I think if we get either Larsson or Bentley they will be more suited to the 4-4-2 formation. If the plan is to get a right winger and move Barton inside and have a 3 man midfield of Barton, Nolan and Tiote, then we will need lots pace on each wing. Jonas and Ben Arfa can provide this on the left, and so with Routledge as backup maybe look at another right sided player who is more direct and can deliver good quality who is also fast. Adam Hammill at Barnsley has looked really good. Someone like that maybe.

We've got pace in Routledge and Jonas. What neither of them offer is delivery or set-piece taking.

If Jonas picks the ball up in his own half, runs 50 yards past a couple of players, puts a shit low cross in that goes for a throw or wins a free kick then to a large extent he has done his job. He is incredibly frustrating at times and his end product is consistently poor but even then, if you can't see what he does bring to the team you're not paying enough attention. Dropping Jonas for a player whose main asset is delivery, whether that be Larsson or anyone else will encourage long balls more than anything because we're not good enough to pass the ball all the way upfield.

(Don't think Larsson will be anywhere near the left side of the pitch though)

Jonas is the only person in the whole team who runs with the ball and takes people on, and there is definitely a huge value in that. Such a shame Routledge just can't find the confidence to go for it more often.

We seemed to carry the ball up the pitch fine without Jonas against Everton.

Think that's his point. Although I agree with Wullie wholeheartedly.

I'm glad that's the plan but again i'm not sure whether he should be broadcasting it to all and sundry.

but is that the actual plan? or is it a load of "tell them(us fans) what they want to hear" scripted by the FCC

Jonas was excellent at Wigan.  Fundamental to us securing the points by taking pressure off us in the second half.  Didn't he provide the cross that led to one of the goals too.  He's not perfect, but gets way too much stick on here - equally hyperbolic was the praise when he arrived.  Bipolar disorder.

@SkySportsriach: Birmingham coach Peter Grant is hoping Newcastle target Sebastian Larsson will sign a new contract and stay at the club.
