LoveItIfWeBeatU
Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is pushing the club to splash out £7m on Scott Parker - and is also eyeing Fiorentina winger Juan Manuel Vargas as a replacement for Stewart Downing. http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Aston-Villa-Alex-McLeish-wants-West-Ham-Scott-Parker-for-7m-eyes-Fiorentina-winger-Juan-Manuel-Vargas-replace-Stewart-Downing-article766055.html Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish is urging the club's owner Randy Lerner to bid £7million for Scott Parker - and also fancies Peru winger Juan Manuel Vargas. Villa have enquired about West Ham midfielder Parker, who Upton Park chief David Sullivan is anxious to get off the wage bill either permanently or on loan . However, they are yet to table a bid for the England international as boss McLeish also wants Wigan winger Charles N'Zogbia and Spurs right-back Alan Hutton. McLeish - who will make Manchester City keeper Shay Given his first signing, on a three-year contract - is having to juggle his modest resources as Ashley Young's £16m sale to Manchester United merely offset January's purchase of Sunderland striker Darren Bent. With Stewart Downing seemingly bound for Liverpool after Villa accepted a bid of close to £20m last night, McLeish is considering moving for Fiorentina ace Vargas to play on the opposite flank to N'Zogbia. The left-footed 27-year-old would cost £12m-£13m and is known for his dribbling, free-kicks and accurate crosses. McLeish has a history of signing South American players, such as Mauro Zarate, Christian Benitez and Jean Beausejour, while at Birmingham.

Elliottman
Its a pathetic bid, but you know what this lot are like. They'll just be testing the water. Hopefully this is just the start of the negotiating and we'll go and to get him.

Rocker
Nah man, this is just to show our intentions to N'Zogbia, so he knows he's wanted. He puts in a transfer request and kicks up a big fuss, claiming ' le wont play for le Wigan again' thus downsizing his transfer fee.

Start low and get laughed at by your worst enemy in business I dont think Ashley will be worrying to much about what Whelan thinks of him to be honest. They could be doing it to unsettle Zog and maybe a ploy to get him for 6 or 7 if he hands in a transfer request who knows. If its true, then the positive is that at least we are in for him and hopefully we'll be willing to pay what it takes. Time will tell.

Ashley17
"We'd love to buy N'Zogbia off you, but it's been a very lean year financially, so we bid £4m," said Mike walking past the golden goal posts and the 3 tier fountain at the training ground.
