"I am going to pick the team on Thursday. In recent weeks we have been trying to get players through Thursday and Friday to be able to play on Saturday, and it hasn't worked for us.

"So we will now nail our team down on Thursday morning and go with it, whatever it is."

"I will make a decision on Jonas and Joey on Friday," said Pardew, who has put Ferguson on a steak and milk diet to bulk him up. "They are very close so I can't say too much."

I've never seen a manager contradict himself than Pardew, getting a bit silly if not tiresome now

Circumstances change, tbh.

What are the other examples of contradiction?

Andy Carroll is not for sale.

He didn't sell Carroll, though.

But he did say Andy Carroll is not for sale, when he was not in the position to do so.

Howay man, what else could he say?

Keep his big trap shut for a change ;)

Honestly, the only reason the crap rumours going around about Barton not playing because he is on strike/jockeying for a better contract have 0% credibility instead of 1% is because Pardew hasn't told the world and his wife every last detail about it.

Oh for fuck sake he made so many comments about player xyz being available for this game and that game and then only to later admit that he is not ready yet. I accept that injuries are fluid and often you can't put an exact date on when the player will be available, if that is the case, then he should just say that he fucking doesn't know or give a range of possible dates. The problem with Pardew is that he  makes very definitive statements like HBA will be ready for Wolves and then only having to swallow his words later when he realize it's not gonna happen...makes him look silly and I've completely lost trust in him when it comes to statements of when players are available to play again.

which part are blatant lies? Which NUFC manager in your view has dished out more contradictions in such a short space of time?

Lifted from Skysports, a grim reminder of what awaits:

Stoke City have the worst shooting accuracy in the top flight, hitting the target with just 37% of attempts.

44% of Stoke's passes are played into the final third, the highest percentage of any team in the top flight.

The Potters are the only team not to score a goal in the opening 15 minutes of a Premier League match this season.

Stoke have earned 10 points from a possible 12 at the Britannia Stadium in 2011.

Stoke have won just one of their last seven Premier League games.

The Potters have failed to score in five of those seven league matches.

Newcastle have won only one of their last eight Premier League games.

Stoke have won one and lost none of the three Premier League meetings with Newcastle.

Stoke beat Newcastle United 2-1 at St James' Park in September despite only having one shot on target in the match.

Stoke have scored the highest proportion of goals in the second half of games this season in the Premier League (78%).
