Got away with sloppiness I'm the ball v Villa due to Villas cackness.  Didn't at all last night.  It was the performance of an all action hard working bad footballer, making a mess of playing the ball way too often.

We have seen earlier in the season that Abeid is better then that.  Hopefully it is just rustiness.

I think many have decided this lad is a superstar too early, he does not look their yet.  I am a big fan though.

I would drop one of our awful wingers to accommodate a three man midfield with Abeid, Sissoko and Colback.  They are our three most effective midfielders.

Agree.

Don't go along with the view he'll now be straight out the team cos Colback is back,  i think we will go back to a 3 man midfield and Abeid will slot in alongside Colback with Sissoko ahead of those 2 and Cabella will come back in on the right and Perez will be back upfront as Cisse looks like he could be putting his feet up for the next 6 weeks!!  Gouffran, Obertan and Sammy can fight over the wide left spot!

Rolando and Cabella should get the wide positions in a 3.

I'm a little concerned about Aarons, tbh. It is now four months he hasn't played competitive football at any level, with a new reasons being found to delay his return at seemingly every available opportunity. The facts remain that he has only played five matches professionally, starting only two and playing 90 minutes in none. He had so much momentum in the preseason and the early part of the league campaign, so it would be a real shame if he didn't get another chance to show himself and learn at the top level before the next preseason.

Agree ,but what a depressing sentence

Based on his run at the end of the game, it seems Jonas has turned into Messi since his illness. Get him LW, goals galore

Concerned about his injury record or that there's is a conspiracy to have him flogged next window?

probs the rumour that he's knocked back a derisory contract offer so we're not playing him or whatever that rumour is

That headline is really quite misleading. His actual quotes:

“I never lost the confidence I could play for Newcastle, but I didn’t know what was going to happen with the club. I’m glad that I stayed and have played many games for Newcastle, because I like this club.

“In Greece, I played behind the strikers, but here I’m playing more defensively. I like both roles, so wherever the coach wants to play me, I will do my best.

“Of course. I like to attack, and I like to defend as well, so I would say my preference is centre mid.

“I played many games in Greece, so I gained confidence in myself and I got some experience as well. I played about 40 games, so I came back a different player.”

I've always thought that CMs should basically be able to do everything. Ideally you want two like Dyer and Speed - able to contribute defensively and offensively in different ways.

Even Jenas & Acuna did it. They were nearly all all-rounders.

Specialisation makes sense but ideally you want players that specialise in certain areas but can do a bit of everything.

Think I saw Paul Scholes 100 club on Sky - at least twice bloody Nicky Butt played excellent balls forward for an assist or assist of an assist.

Matic would be B2B for us.

Actually quite tired of this holding midfield Makalele role bull s***. If we play 3 central midfielders, 2 should be able to attack and defend, and if 1 is further up #10, then so be it. If we have to play 3 central midfielders all responsible attacking and defending, great. But the idea that you basically just lose an attacker b/c 1 is sitting back protecting his back line is something I wish could go away from football.

Miss the days you'd just talk about 2 teams going out there trying to out attack the other. Shit has gotten so overly tactical it's become a bit of a bore to me.
