Drogba would have been 25 during that transcendent season at OM. When Eto'o was 25, he scored the equaliser in the Champions League final, won the Pichichi, and was top scorer for the best team in the world. I like Drogba much more tha Eto'o, but the Cameroonian's consistency at the top level is astounding.

I'm really sad about this. Always been my favorite non-NUFC player in PL and seems like a nice guy with all those charities. There's so many memories watching him play thinking he's totally unplayable.

Eto'o has never been as polished a footballer as Drogba.

It's clear you favors Drogba, and Drogba is a world class forward, but if we ignore personal opinions, Eto'o is the better player.

Samuel Eto'o:

Young African Player of the Year: 2000

    African Player of the Year: 2003, 2004, 2005, 2010

    ESM Team of the Year: 2004–05, 2005–06, 2008-09, 2010–11

African Footballer of the Year: 2006, 2009

Chelsea Players' Player of the Year: 2007

Premier League Golden Boot: 2007, 2010

PFA Team of the Year: 2007, 2010

UEFA Team of the Year: 2007

ESM Team of the Year: 2007

    FIFPro World XI: 2007

BBC African Footballer of the Year: 2009

West African Footballer of the Year : 2010

Chelsea Player of the Year: 2010

    Time Top 100: 2010

    Côte d'Ivoire all-time Top Scorer

This is quality

If we ignore personal opinions, and rate them on loads of things that are decided only by personal opinions we come to a far fairer decision

I highly doubt he, you and I have anything to do with all the awards these players have won.

Weah exceeds both IMO, Eto'o probably shades Drogba because he's done it more consistently for longer and I don't think Drogba would be as good in a more tactical league whereas I firmly believe Eto'o would've torn the PL a new one.

From Wiki:

After playing in youth teams, Drogba made his professional debut aged 18 for Ligue 2 club Le Mans. A late bloomer, he signed his first professional contract aged 21; it was not until the 2002–03 season that he realized his potential, scoring 17 goals in 34 appearances in Ligue 1 for Guingamp. During the same season he made his first international appearance for Côte d'Ivoire, in September, and scored his first international goal the following February. He moved to Olympique de Marseille in 2003 for £3.3 million.

Can't help but think that if we had our scouting network set up like it is now, back then he would have joined us and we would maybe have a trophy that isn't 40+ years old.

Google image searching for that picture of fucking Eusebio took me to a dodgy site and installed a virus on my computer, which I've just spent the last 4 hours trying to get rid of. Mint.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fuck's sake.

 Sorry about your ordeal, but the smiley is hilarious.

Did you miss his seasons at Marseilles?

All 1 of them?

Certainly sounds like you did.

Nah not really, but i was talking about his time at Chelsea in any case and anyway it seems to me that you did because you referred it as "seasons"

He was only there for 1 year ffs

He was a great player but not consistent and definitely not on Eto'o's level imo.

Anyway iam going to leave it at that.

Need I remind you of what you actually said?

So his prime consisted of 2 seasons in his whole career? because thats the only time he scored goals for fun, the rest were just poor, average or decent seasons.

His time at Marseilles wasn't poor, average or decent. He was f***ing phenomenal.

But you specifically said we should ignore personal opinions and then tried to prove one player was better than the other based on who had a longer list of awards, the majority of which are opinion based...surely you can see why I've laughed at that?

Eto'o adapted to Italian football and being outside of Barca far more than I ever imagine he would. Made me realise just how good he is.

Being rapid is pretty useful in any nation
