Just whip a corner in with pace into an area which the players will attack, is that asking too much?

It's absolutely laughable, and bordering on criminal, that a top division side is almost zero threat from set pieces as we are. There is no excuse for it whatsoever. We're forfeiting about 5% of our chances of scoring during a game the way we go about our corners and free kicks.

Losing much more than 5% IMO.

Average of all those percentages is about 24%, so we're well down on the amount of goals we should be scoring via set pieces. Wouldn't matter so much if we were scoring more generally, like most of the teams down the bottom with us.

What I don't understand is how he's such a good short and long passer of the ball, has a very good shot on him whether it's in open play or from a free kick, but give him the responsibility of whipping in a free kick and he doesn't do it.

Surely he must be being told to drift it to the far post? His corners when he first arrived were very good as well.

Even those stats are a bit misleading - one is Colo hauling the ball back into the box against Man City after a cleared corner, one is Elliot from his own half against Southampton, two are direct free kicks - struggling to think what the other one is but our conversion from your typical corner/crossed free kick is absolutely non existent.

Worrying thing is that it wasn't even any better when Cabaye was out despite Marveaux and Anita trying their luck plenty of times.

must be close to 300 corners with no return. Ba, v Wolves in 2011 was last success from a corner.

The best we've done from a corner was when Ben Arfa picked it up and ran into the box to win a penalty, at least I think it was from a corner against Spurs at home.

Said this before but I don't understand how corners can be that bad when they aren't the type Robert used to put in.

They are just really shit. These are quality footballers at the top of their game who train pretty much every day in how to play football. If you gave average Joe decent Sunday league player that many corners I am sure more would cause danger than we currently manage. It's baffling

We do too many floated balls. We're never going to be the best at corners, we just don't have any great headers of a ball, so just drill it in and see what happens. Do some short ones to add some variety.

The closest we've come to scoring from a corner this year, was when Ben Arfa tried to score one against West Ham

Are we all agreed that he must be being told to float them in?

Anything else seems unrealistic.

The delviery is horrendous. then when the delivery is good. Nobody attacks it.

I'm more concerned about his challenges. Seems to have a borderline red almost every league game now.

Not sure why I've just sat through a whole 2 minutes of what was effectively a male photo-shoot like, but I did.

I got a stiffy while watching it
