hakka
Cabaye could have gone, but we it looks like we wanted that £20m which nobody was interested in paying. We only sell for more than they are worth and we only bid for less than they are worth. Complete hypocrisy of a transfer policy really aimed at maximizing money over getting the best player in for the team.
toontownman
So basically we're struggling to get players over the line either way. What a mess we are Do we even know where the line is that these players have to cross? As far as I can tell its either a soft core porno or an album by the Bellamy Brothers.. stay tuned David Craig will have an update.. This may help http://en.academic.ru/pictures/enwiki/79/Over_the_line_court.png

Big Geordie
The club are going to use "like a new signing" "keeping him was a great bit of business" shit, as trying to put a positive spin on our diabolical summer. Still, mugs will lap it up. Again - quoted for the truth

This window has seen teams drastically overpay, whilst some get great bargains. I can see why theyd have their cake and eat it. My problem is their stubbornness with negotiations and that we've gone too far with the French Revolution. And theres no ambition to ever achieve something. Jordan
So with all the TV money income we've relied on selling one of our big name players to fund our summer. What a fucking joke this club is.

Course it's correct, but surely trying to get a better deal for yourself than you give to your competitors is a completely good thing for the club? Cajun
I agree with the last bit of his post but are we really moaning about NOT selling players now?
Vinny Green Balls
Shouldn't you be happy when we are driving a hard bargain for the sale of our assets? Can't see how anyone would attack them for trying to fleece some mug club. Not really hypocrisy to want to make more on a player than he is worth and spend less on a player than he's valued. The really annoying thing is the absolute rigidity of the system though. It's fucked us more often than not.
Ste
David Gold has spoken recently of the need to increase revenue to allow for more money to be spent on wages. This is due to Financial Fair Play. You can only spend a certain percentage of your clubs turnover on wages. Perhaps this has something to do with our one in, one out policy at the moment. Although, you'd imagine our revenue would be good enough to allow for further movement. If Cabaye stays, I hope he gets his head down and plays well. This whole thing isn't finished though, not unless the club go against the grain and show some ambition.
AyeDubbleYoo
I don't think we have a one in, one out policy. We're just tight when we try to sign people.

Sold Bale, Caulker, Huddlestone, Parker and Dempsey. Sunderland have sold Mignolet, Elmohamady, McClean and Kilgallon. Impossible to say how much they have increased their wage bills as anything mentioned in the media is speculation.

I can imagine our own revenue has a lot of potential to grow. We could definitely be doing a lot better in that regard. Just an idea really, I'm bored. We have only brought in Remy so you would have to think that we must have been close or on par with our budget at the end of last season. The club have been saying that they want to bring in new faces though, so therefor those statements would contradict the possibility of us being on our percentage of turnover.
