He saw very little of the ball which he could do nothing about. We didn't stand a chance in the centre against that midfield 3 of Milner, Toure and De Jong. HBA and Ba linked up better today than they have previously. It's going to take practice to gain understanding but I'm confident it will come. They both just need to know their roles. Was poor against Everton also. I'd actually would be tempted to start Best and Barfa against Man U coming to think of it. See how both of them train through the week i suppose. Ba is out top scorer for a reason, he's our best chance of a goal and could have got one today with a bit more luck. Dropping him would be total madness. This. Despite the insistence of one person in particular I don't think it's proven either way yet whether Ba and Ben Arfa will work,it seemed to work ok today against the best team in the league? Which is why i said start them both against Man Utd but there is also an argument that Ba has missed a number of chances in the last 2 games also. Best deserves a chance with Ben Arfa at some point. The Magpies' 11-game unbeaten run finally came to a halt at the weekend as league leaders Manchester City recorded a deserved 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium. Newcastle matched their opponents for the majority of the first half, but were undone by the concession of two quick goals before the interval and were unable to haul themselves back into the game in the second period. The defeat represents the first real challenge to the buoyancy that has been evident within Alan Pardew's squad this season, but Ba does not expect it to undo too much of the good work that has been done in the last three months. “We have some very strong characters in the dressing room and I am sure this result will not affect us,” said the striker, who was unable to convert either of two decent opportunities before City scored. “We are not going to struggle mentally just because of one defeat. “We played well. We might not have had much of the ball in the first half, but I thought we defended really well. I have quoted that in the HBA thread, I think it suits Ba to play upfront with a player like Hatem more than Best, with Best its more about a long ball and trying to guess right where the flick on will go.
