Dave
Colo must have taken a big pay cut on his new deal if £80k is now 'significantly above' his wages.
Beren
Love it how they are talking about wages like its a new thing. Agree. Bit surprising given it's the Independent.
Dokko
Love it how they are talking about wages like its a new thing. BUT THEY'D HAVE TO PAY HIS WAGES! Andy Carroll will cost Liverpool near enough £60m going off this new inclusive of wage technique.
Mole_Toonfan
I should have read it properly If the wages counted then RVP costs Man Utd over 70m over his contract None the less it's still a lot of money for clubs outside the big ones who have strikers anyway. Tiresias
Colo taking a significant pay cut after being so good? Sort of what a man Colo, sort of wtf is our club doing exploiting the goodwill of our best player?
madras
Colo taking a significant pay cut after being so good? Sort of what a man Colo, sort of wtf is our club doing exploiting the goodwill of our best player? so was it..... a) colos wages were wildly exaggerated in the first place ? b) he really has taken a whacking pay cut ? c) his 'pay' is quite small but he makes a lump in image rights paid for by the club to his own private company, registered offshore
Tiresias
yeah prolly best not to guess all up in the air, I'm happy for club to pay whatever Colo wants...

madras
demba ba must be as thick as mince if all that is true.
Jack Flash
I read the Colo part as meaning Ba would then be the highest earner at the club, which is significant. Or Colo could have taken a lower weekly wage for more years.
Mole_Toonfan
demba ba must be as thick as mince if all that is true. Or he's easily influenced.... either way i wish he would give them the boot and sign a new contract.
Tiresias
It would be the wrong message to send tbh to acquiese to his demands, making him the highest paid player after kicking up a fuss when tbh he's been great at times but he doesn't deserve to be paid more than Colo. Guest hydeous
Won't believe a thing until either the club or Ba says something himself. Agents will always try to move a player just for a big payday. And in this case - 5 million! Wow! Really hope this ends well - Ba stays with us, gets an improved contract (not more than our wage cap) with the clause gone, Ba's agents fed to the lions. Please. Wallace
Colo taking a significant pay cut after being so good? Sort of what a man Colo, sort of wtf is our club doing exploiting the goodwill of our best player? so was it..... a) colos wages were wildly exaggerated in the first place ? b) he really has taken a whacking pay cut ? c) his 'pay' is quite small but he makes a lump in image rights paid for by the club to his own private company, registered offshore When Colo first signed, his reported wage was £40k a week but over the years it seemed to increase in newspaper reports. So many factors involved - basic pay, bonuses, image right. I guess the figure reported is whatever suits the agenda at the time whether that is the press or the club. Cajun
Forwards generally earn more than defenders as wrong as that is. If media speculation is to be believed Xisco is on more than Ba.
madras
Forwards generally earn more than defenders as wrong as that is. If media speculation is to be believed Xisco is on more than Ba. xisco wont gat a pay rise, ba will. xisco probably wouldnt fail a stringent medical, ba probably would...all factors. Varadi
I think the knee thing is a big issue, clubs will be worried if they can't get insurance and it goes pop 12 months into a 4 year contract they'll be stuck paying him 3 years for nothing.
