Fabricio Coloccini (now retired)

If he put in the effort and intelligence he did last night every game for us he would walk amongst legends at NUFC. Probably the only captain's performance we have seen from him in his entire time as the club's leader. Terrible shame that he's let his status slip the way he has. He's a very good footballer. Wish he had more heart and determination to better himself but he doesn't.

Spot on.

Needs to play out from the back more, his range of passing was second to none on the pitch yesterday, he's still to old to be the commanding centre back he used to be, made a couple of glaring mistakes as a defender but other than that had a solid game. We need more of this Colo.

Put a more solid midfield in front of him, and ideally a better LB, and I really don't think he's finished. He just goes to pieces quickly when he's repeatedly exposed, but you can say that about most defenders. And he feels the need to go roaming out of position when other people aren't doing their jobs.

Still capable of a good performance. But quick, big, strong attackers will rinse him. ON occasion under Pardew we would attempt a high line. McClaren hasn't dared too and Colo is the reason

Never been a massive fan of Colo but this clearly isn't the case.

When else has he performed as a captain and lifted the team leading by example? He did all his good work driving us forward with intelligent passing and even an attempt on goal. Really can't remember many, if any, times he's done that as captain.

He was magnificent at Sunderland a few years back when he was captain, if I remember correctly.

Didn't see the game, but he did pretty much everything wrong for the 2nd goal

Not really sure what he could do when he was faced with a two on one? Where was Janmaat?

Think he could've beaten Rooney to the ball and booted it into row Z, to be honest. He seems to break stride and decide to jockey him instead.

Aha - I haven't seen it on TV yet just at the match! Where was Janmaat though?!

His lack of pace is his major weakness. It means we can't push forward too much without being exposed to the counter. His distribution was fabulous though, looked better on the ball than most of the midfielders in front of him.

He should've put some pressure on Rooney for starters.

He did look like he broke his stride, it looked like he didn't want to risk getting skinned and shown up but if he'd have committed he would have got there in time to put his studs through it.

Poor for the second and third goals but he's certainly been better recently. Still a big weakness in our team, though.

At times he has far too much to do because of others and he ends up looking bad because he's trying to cover too much ground.
