Guest chopey
As with 99% of footballers he's took a lot more out of Newcastle than he ever gave back, thanks for your service Colo but just move along quietly will you.
HawK
should be of highest priority to get rid He's definitely offski IMO. Haven't heard a peep out of him since Rafa joined. If he had any future at the club, he would have been forced or pushed by the manager to communicate with the fans somehow. As good as gone IMO. There's also something up with that 'injury' he's got that's offically kept him out of the team. I think it's more likely he's been stopped for playing for some reason, perhaps because Rafa knew his heart wasn't in it and his head was in San Lorenzo, or maybe he's refused to play. I remember when he first came Mick Lowe's asked if when out injured he was giving the manager his input and advise on the team in general and he said Errm no indicating a shift taking advise from a bad apple as far as Ian concerned he should be gone and won't be missed Someone wanna try to decipher this? Tbf it's quite harsh to implicate Ian W in this.
Sir Toon
With reference to the quote in the thread title what's actually stopping this happening then? Probably the same as most in that he'll be wanting paid up until the end of the football year. Im sure it's June 30th. Even then, he has another 12 months on top of that, that will need paid off. All this before you even whisper the transfer fee words. At best we'll get about £2 million for him although his wages of £60k - £80k a week off the bill will put Charnley back in Ashley's dressing gown again. Ronaldo
We've got more chance of getting £2m for Graham Carr's filofax.

If he wants to leave, then the worst case for the club would be saying "Fine, tear up your contract and fuck off." There is no reason to contemplate paying out his contract. If he's desperate to leave, then he gives up that cash. If he won't do that, he rots in the reserves away from his family. As for the transfer fee, it's simply not realistic to expect San Lorenzo to cough up. Plus he's not worth much, anyway - that Swiss accounting group the Chronicle referenced said he was worth 1m, and even that is inflated. The best case for the club is trying to squeeze some sort of concession out of them - a first refusal on a decent prospect (or even a swap, but I wouldn't have thought that realistic). Better for everyone to tear up his contract with no money changing hands either way. I think that's a realistic and reasonable outcome under the circumstances. Paying out a captain who doesn't want to be here is neither realistic or reasonable. We hold his registration - it's aces over twos. Fuck the curly-haired cunt. Wallace
If the club sell him don't they have to pay up the contract which is why players won't put in a transfer request these days? As has already been said, if he is that desperate to leave then he should just be happy to cancel the contract and it saves the club another year's wages. There is no way they are getting a fee from San Lorenzo.

There is no way they are getting a fee from San Lorenzo. He might be entitled to some sort of loyalty bonus, which is calculated on a percentage of the remainder of his contract. Remember when we signed Barton from Citeh, and in order for the transfer fee to go through, we had to increase our transfer fee but the equivalent amount (half a mil, from memory). Barton refused to waive that loyalty bonus, but Colo would be more inclined to if he's really so desperate to leave. (It all comes down to that - does he want to go, or would he rather stay and collect?)

He's not going to give up a year's salary in order to go to Argentina. It's our own fault, we should never have extended his contract. I think Cisse and Anita will end up seeing their contracts out as well. It might be a case of just making them earn their money.

gjohnson
Should make him pay up the value of his contract. Wasn't there some ruling a couple of years back that players over a certain age were allowed to buy themselves out?

Stal
Marcelo Lombilla, the representative of @NUFC captain Fabricio Coloccini is negotiating his release so the defender can join San Lorenzo I really hope this is true. I want rid of him more than anyone else. All the usual reasons (he's cack, cowardly, a liar, his inability to be a captain, a backer of the regime, the HBA stuff, that f**king letter etc) but more importantly he can relinquish the number 2 shirt so a f**king right back can have it and things will be right with the world.
