Wullie
Gabby was told during the summer he had no future and was actively looking for a move. He spent the summer training hard and knew if he was stuck at Newcastle he would have to something special to be considered again... maybe he has. He does sincerely want to improve as a player and desperately wants to play for France. He's in the team because other much better players have been ostracised. Same as half the first team. captainhaircut
He's definitely much better from the left. On the right you can just show him inside and remove the threat. From the left, he is a threat going down ways. 2 years ago, he created goals down the left against Bordeaux, Man U and Arsenal with excellent bits of play and then our clown manager never looked at it again. henke
He's fucking garbage man. If Pardew's reliant on Obertan he'll be gone by Christmas, which is a bonus I suppose.
Darth Crooks
Pardew could lose from now until the sun dies and bum the corpse of an infant child in the centre circle at wembley and still end up keeping his job...obertan or not.
GeordieT
He was excellent after his goal, could see the confidence it gave him.

George Bailey
You get nowhere reliant on bottle-less c***s like Obertan. He's a f***ing crock of s**** man. The longer he's in the team the less hope we've got of winning games. What a bizarre thing to say about someone who's just scored a winning goal for the team. Not bizarre if your memory is longer than a rather dim goldfish. Sadly a section of our 'fans' appear to have less intelligence and understanding than a simple guppy. He's the epitome of shit, no actually that's a diservice to shit. And yep first name on the teamsheet now for our puppet cretin.

Tachikoma
I honestly think Obertan has turned a corner this season. He has been our most effective player every time he has featured this season, and that isn't a fluke.

Rebellious
I honestly think Obertan has turned a corner this season. He has been our most effective player every time he has featured this season, and that isn't a fluke. No its because everyone else has been so shit, its a mind trick. He has just been himself. Nowadays a completed pass and a cross have become highlights. For the past two years all a NUFC player has to do is win a tackle, complete 3 passes and put in a scrappy cross to become a player of the season candidate. r0cafella
His biggest problem is his pea size football brain. He's just a poor player and a goal against one of the worst sides in the league doesn't change that fact.
Darth Crooks
Last time he scored was against a shit Blackburn side. That's the pattern. He'll return to complete anonymity before long.

A s*** Blackburn team that still played us off the park Anthony Modeste missed at least 4 sitters that game, one of the worst strikers performances i've seen in my life. Klaus
At this moment in time, he is the only player providing that bit of magic or trickery to open up the oppositions defense. Yes, he is still infuriating to watch at times, but he is the least of our problems at this moment in time. Gouffran and colback for example, have provided fuck all, despite starting regularly. Precisely. Kid plays well for a couple of games, creates a goal last time out and scores a winner this time and yet still the negativity on here about him is raging. Gouffran was awful yesterday but will still start against Spurs.

Have to agree with this. He's still an absolutely awful footballer imo. Some of the decisions he makes on the pitch are horrendous. Then again, everyone in our team makes horrendous decision. Definitely our best player yesterday for the 20-25 mins I watched of the game until I was bored to death.
Dokko
It's up to the manager to play inform players no matter who they are whilst dropping more favoured ones when they are off the boil. It's something Pardew has never really got right unless it's a striker, but the results are easier to see when a striker is on form as you get goals. Obertan does deserve a run out, it's a good sign to the rest of the squad that places can be hah should you take your chance when you get it. Problem will be when he doesn't play well and Pardew plays him no matter what (see goof)

Yeah that pisses me off too gouffran has done zero since his boyfriend left to go to PSG and obertan gets shit loads of abuse but he is our most influential player atm

He's only playing because there's nobody else, due to Cabella being the latest scapegoat. Obertan and Ameobi are all that's left in the "fret" department and 1 is injured. Cabella has been nothing short of awful, sammy has looked good and for me another player who deserves to win a spot. Obertan's form won't last long if at all, it never does, take the opportunity to milk it and show the players everyone has a chance to play...then its back on the bench/reserves when the pressure gets too much to him. Cabella just hasn't clicked yet, no point playing him till he's up to speed and making a difference as all we are doing right now is ruining his confidence. Price tag doesn't matter. playing him every game just because he was bought as a 1st team player isn't going to help when he's struggling to make an impact (for whatever reason)
