Fenham Mag
I thought we would be in for Clyne but recent comments from Pardew on Tavernier suggest otherwise. Tav could be more promising than Clyne.
Stu
I know they have been bitching about agent fees and an increased wage bill, but you would think there is a few mill left. Getting rid of Smith and Xisco should at least free up about 70-100k a week. Are we not still trying to reduce the wage bill (while improving and increasing the squad)? There's no law that says we must spend all of the 'freed up' wages from expiring contracts on new player wages. Maybe we can use it to give a player a bigger signing on fee, or re-signing bonus - it's all money from the same pot. That kind of money could go down very well in an Argentinean orphange. Guest magpie99
Reducing the wage bill. Easy Sell Colo for 7 million to a spanish team, spend the money on the Montpellier captain. Colo wages 80k off the books, Montpellier lad on at 40K 8 year age difference too
eliassenfredrik
From leParisien Aly Cissokho: Newcastle must pay € 10 million Newcastle is not willing to pay more than 8 or 9 M € for Aly Cissokho. Aly Cissokho, the left side of Lyon, 24, is currently at OL. Counsel for the French international (1 selection) two leaders met yesterday to discuss a departure from Lyon to Newcastle, but the club would have shown Rhone ... Some other source saying it will happen in the summer.
Guest Brazilianbob
Why waste money on Clyne when we have Tavernier? Granted he wouldnt get in ahead of Simpson at the moment but then neither would Clyne who is, like Tavernier still learning his trade. Even Pardew has said Tavernier is ready to go on loan and play in the CCC?
Cajun
Clyne for me is a couple of steps ahead of Tavernier as he already has that experience in the championship and shown to be a very good full back. Tav might do the same but he is still to prove it.
Dokko
Why waste money on Clyne when we have Tavernier? Even Pardew has said Tavernier is ready to go on loan and play in the CCC? Clyne has 110 games experience in the division below us and has hardly had a bad game in that time, tav got moved from RB to rw as he wasn't reliable enough in the division below Clyne. Clyne can play both LB and RB and has played for England u-21. I'm assuming you knew all this before coming up with your conclusion?
1964
Mate of mine is a Palace fan and he raves about Clyne, best full back they have had for decades and will only get better. I'm inclyned to agree!!! Coat get my I'll get

Shak
I'd rather see us sign a left back. We'd then have Santon who can play either side, Simpson who plays on the right and a new player who plays on the left. Raylor as 4th choice/emergency cover. Would be good competition for spots and we wouldn't have to stick players in where they aren't comfortable in the event that Santon gets injured. Skirge
Don't think we will, if he was a CB that could play LB then maybe but a proper CB is the priority, not a LB that may be ok at CB.

Can't see us making a move for Cissokho this month tbh. If he's still available in the summer, that's when we'll make our move imo.
taxfree
From calciomercato.it: Martin Caceres could not be the only reinforcement strips on the defensive at home Juventus. Intercepted in the corridors of the Hilton Hotel from sending Calciomercato.it, the agent of Aly Cissokho, Barat Ali, has revealed interesting market scenarios that might occur in the coming days. "Cissokho has a contract until 2014, Lyon has proposed a two-year renovation, but we did not accept because he wants to move on. At the same time, the Lyon to sell, because they need liquidity. I am here in Italy, because the Friday meeting Juventus. If you go away in January, it is only for Juve. As for the summer you can open the doors of the accident in light of United's Evra. recently came an offer from Newcastle 7 million, but the Lyon 9 evaluates it and we know that the Bianconeri have a budget to spend. Juve is a great team, plays offensively and Aly wants to play the Champions League. They are now first. Rome? In this moment they have resources.
