Realistic Transfer Targets

Would fucking love Hangeland. An experienced leader and a very good defender. Already knows the league and would be a decent partner for Coloccini, if a little sluggish as a partnership.

I'd really like an athletic type with colo, we frequently get caught out by balls over the top, we've got no pace in the middle.

If we are serious about avoiding relegation, Lescott on loan is a no brainier. Can't throw a foreign centre half in, during a relegation battle.

Get what he's saying (as long as he means from a foreign league not a foreign player) risky business hoping a cb hits the ground running, mistakes costs goals, they don't have the luxury for bedding in time. A seasoned prem players would fit right in. Lescott or Hangeland would be great stuff, if that's the standard of CB we end up with the I'm happy, even if I've not been lescotts biggest fan in the past, he's top quality in our squad.

Bit of a massive generalisation though isn't it? Would anybody complain in the slightest if we signed Sakho, Douglas or Yanga-Mbiwa?

That's more tactical for me, high line and leaving ourselves exposed. On the flip side we need a physical menace as colo is pretty weak. Fast and strong while being decent is pretty rare for a cb.

Long term I'd be over the moon, but I'd be still worried about them settling in, especially Douglas for some reason.  :undecided:

Feeling we won't bring in a CB considering that Douglas is on a free this summer.

Aye, if they can get Douglas to agree on a free transfer this January I can see us happily going with what we've got until the end of the season. Huge gamble really, but that's the score with Ashley as an owner.
