it'll be the same 30m ish spent on 6-8 players to try and fumble through the season with the hope of unearthing another ayoze or selling a sissoko

Except we spent nowhere near that last summer.

You can take away about £11m combined from the Riviere and Cabella deals.

Good that we've moved on from complaining about spending nothing to complaining about spending £30m.

If we signed 8 players for £30m we'd have to be doing pretty darn well to be successful with that 8.

Based on rumoured fees it was about £30-£35m.  Take away sales that summer and you're down to around £20m.  Take away the January sale of Cabaye you're roughly breaking even.

It's not an honest argument to complain about Cabaye's sale contributing to both huge profits in 13/14 and a break even net spend in 14/15.

Cabaye Profits from 13/14 led to a £21.4m net spend in 14/15.
