I don't know why any potential buyer would put out a figure like £60m to spend on players into the domain. It doesn't buy you much these days so it just gives the impression they don't have much in the way of financial resources to compete properly.

Depends.

If it's 60m net then it could get a lot, keep in my mind only City, Man Utd and Chelsea spent more last summer. Of course if it's just 60m and it doesn't include sales going back into the team then it's fuck all.

All in all it's prob classic speculation, public negotiation, ways to get this guy's name in the press and out there etc. but rumors are good - let's keep them coming and hopefully something sticks.

Of course, if he does buy us, means all the Mackems will stop buying McVitie's, Penguins and Jaffa Cakes.

Newcastle end obesity on wearside........Weight Watchers shares plummet.

Some Mackem on talkSPORT now. "Sunderland have a better training ground. 50,000 Geordies singing their hearts out won't win you games. Be careful what you wish for. Mike Ashley paid off all your debt. If Sunderland had the investment we had they wouldn't be in the Championship."

Pretty sure the mackems net transfer spend is higher than ours over the last 10 years like.  If not, it's only shifted our favour in the last year or so.

NUFC net spend since 07/08 - £32M

SAFC net spend since 07/08 - £106M

Not to mention all the money Short has pumped in/written off season after season.

Classic Mackematics.

Wonder if us being linked to that Turkish striker has anything to do with potential suitors?

Also £60m on 3 players this window would have us fighting fit..sell some fringe next summer and start bringing in a player a window and we're laughing. It doesn't take much to maintain us, just a tad of ambition. Tbh you'll claw a lot back having the clubs merchandise back under its own banner and it'll rocket knowing you aren't putting money in to Ashley's pocket.

 Agree.

having said that, Ulker and Yildaz Holdings companies are fucking massive. Had no idea they also own Godiva. This guy has spent his entire life studying and working to be a global champion in the field of biscuits, etc.

 Also should be mentioned, because that's his starting idea ( 60m) it doesn't mean it wouldn't increase once the clubs grows on and off the pitch. I have no idea about the bloke obviously, but i would imagine if we had success he wouldn't stick to a hard and fast rule of 60m and fuck off.

I don't know why but my preference would be Staveley. She's twice tried to buy a top level club, she's been highly involved in the takeover at Man City which led to them becoming a top level club. At work she aims to make everything achieve the best it can do. She doesn't seem like someone who is just in it on a whim and actually has a plan of action of how to gain success both on and off the pitch. Above all else, her making a mess of it means her business and name is tarnished, where as with Ashely it brought him fame and increased the presence of Sports Direct.
