In an open letter, NUFC Fans Forum have requested that a meeting between supporters and the club should be brought forward and attended by Ashley. The letter comes after the fans forum received an email from Lee Charnley who accepted mistakes had been made and told the Toon Army that a briefing would be arranged. In the latest letter, fans said: “It is the overall view of the Fans Forum that we wish to take you up on your offer to meet. “However, we do not want this meeting to be our remaining meeting simply brought forward. “We feel that there is more than plenty to discuss at our final meeting of the season. “We agree, as a group, that the club have been open and transparent during our meetings. However, we feel quite strongly that we would like Mike Ashley, the owner of NUFC to be present at this ‘interim’ meeting. “We feel that it isn’t too much to ask. We also feel that it may help NUFC in the long run. “It is something that we are sure that you recognise that many of our fans want. “Whilst it is quite obvious that yourself and Mike have been consistently against this, we must ask you to please reconsider this policy for the good of NUFC.” Newcastle fans protest against owner Mike AshleyNewcastle fans protest against owner Mike Ashley The letter questioned the lack of leadership and discipline in the team. It read: “We must ask the club to act now and put its house ‘in order’ as a matter of urgency. “We have three remaining games. Three games give us three opportunities to protect our Premier League status. “We must have someone at the head of our team that will ensure that the eleven players in black and white shirts are indeed fighting for our survival. “The owners of NUFC must take responsibility in a gamble that has obviously not paid off. Some of those fans displayed a banner which read: ‘We don’t demand a team that wins, we demand a club that tries!’ “While our fan base may have many differing views, we are quite convinced that we all share the sentiment of that banner. “Fans of NUFC are no longer prepared to accept this nonsense. Sima
Ashley doesn't give two fucks man, the last place he'll put himself is in the front of a lot of disgruntled supporters.

Leek
Just wondering say we stay up and hired your ideal manager whether it Garde, De Boer or even more realistically a likeable manager with ambition, good knowledge and positivity, they got their own staff in and made a few good signings built a decent looking squad. Would that be enough for you to go out enjoy supporting the club again, give the club your backing and go to the matches? Or has Ashleys gone way past the point of return to be bothered about the club while hes here?

Jimburst
I'd say that whilst falling out of love with this football club has been a long process, if we got what we are asking for, a lot of us would rush back. Not season ticket type support, but I'd be going to games again, watching us at the pub rather than on a shitty stream at home. Enjoying football again. Unfortunately though, I think we are the best example of what football is about to become. We've just seen it before everyone else. Football is about to finish the transition from entertainment to commodity. As more ridiculous money pours in, I think we'll see many more clubs in the PL aiming for anything but relegation and a huge pot of money. I doubt it's going to be much of a competition. From that perspective, I'm not sure I'll ever love football as much as I have in the past. Same goes for NUFC.
Guest firetotheworks
I definitely agree with that but think that interest in the premier league will dwindle as a result, the TV money bubble will burst and clubs will start grovelling. Might take a while but I think it'll happen eventually. The quality being offered as part of the league's brand is so low at the moment.

sbnufc
I dunno if this has been asked or spoken about, but why does he actively go to games? People say he doesnt care, he isnt a "football man" , is only in it for the money etc etc.. yet he regularly comes to games. Add that to him used to sitting in with fans, wearing the shirt.. It doesnt really make sense

Eddy Chibas
He is by no means a hands-off & distant club owner. He sat over a think tank, come transfer window time, which has deliberately & consistently underbid for targets (to miss out on signings) to look after the bottom line. Bugger off Mike.
