“If they owe Mike Ashley money and he sells the club, the new owners will have to pay him. I think we’re in pieces.”

Aye, like some idiot is going to buy the club without knowing the debt details or repayment plans of it.  Ohh wait....

How do the figures tally up with Ashley's comments about the pot being dry, then? Bullshit surely. As if I'm surprised.

http://www.nufc.co.uk/articles/20160406/united-confirm-201415-financial-results_2281670_5474983

During the year ended 30th June, 2015, Newcastle United generated a profit after tax of £32.4million (2014: £18.7million) and a net cash inflow from operating activities of £39.1million (2014: £32.9million).

Of the £39.1million cash generated, £23.8million was spent during the financial year on the playing squad (net of disposals). The remainder (which formed part of our cash balance at 30th June, 2015, of £48.3million) has been spent (or has been contracted to spend) in full since 1st July, 2015.

In total, the summer 2015 and January 2016 transfer windows have seen a net spend on the playing squad of just under £80million, and a significant increase in the Club's annual wage bill.

Wasn't it Soccernomics, amongst others, who broadly correlate success and league position with wage bill? If so, is it any wonder we're rapidly disintegrating as a competitive entity while someone like Stoke continue to improve.

You get what you pay for and the problem is, that many of our senior players are being vastly overpaid.

Aren't those two points contradictory?

Are suppose it means you pay higher wages for superior quality and relative to the quality of our current squad the figures are skewed as they are not worthy of the wages they are paid anyway.

 Apologies for not being clearer.

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley will launch a full management review at the end of the season, regardless of what division the club are in, as he seeks an explanation for another dreadful campaign.

Inquiry as performance slips from mediocre to unsatisfactory.  If it was the former there would be no issue at all.

I think its pretty obvious what the cause of it is but no significant changes will be made.

Charnley's going to get the bullet, for one.
