Most of this stuff would be deemed health and safety risks over here wouldn't they? Isn't that the excuse they gave for getting rid of ours?

Aye, fire hazard IIRC. Ridiculous really as nowhere else seems to have this problem.

Talking of big fire hazard flags...

Personally not a fan of the massive banners, flags etc Something about it just seems a bit shit.

It's pretty impressive when they're rolled down from the back of the stand when the teams come out IMO. Obviously during a game they're pretty shit as nee cunt can see.

What about the double flag?

I need to go to a match in Turkey

Still laughing at that photo, just trying to imagine Newcastle fans getting on the Shields ferry going to the SOL.

I remember drinking in the OM Bar away at Marseille (next to the harbour) when a load of Marseille fans turned up by boat and tried to take the bar back from the Newcastle fans - they did in the end but weren't happy about it

They got rid of our flag because of a 'fire hazard'? Considering it never caught fire and there's strictly no smoking inside the ground, that makes no sense at all. Honestly, football in this country is such a joke. You would get life in jail if you did what was in some of those videos.

On a side note, the noise, passion, colour and energy and just general chaos of the Argentine fans is just amazing. I've felt the passion of football in Argentina first hand, but never have I been to a game. I'd love to go to Boca at La Bombonera or, after seeing those Racing fans, visit the Estadio Juan Domingo Peron! That's what football is all about.

I lived in Chile last year and went to a fair few games there and Bolivia and watched a lot of Argie stuff on telly. Have to say I actually think our atmospheres are a lot better. They jump around more but a lot of it's just noise, trumpets and stuff, not songs and crowds tend to be very poor. Also, it seems like they're worse than here for glory supporting. In Chile most clubs received very poor support with most following Universidad or ColoColo - I lived in a town that had a top division team and I couldn't find a shirt anywhere to buy and rarely saw them worn. Similarly in Argentina (I think to a lesser extent) it seemed to be River Plate and Boca at the other side of the country.

I think it's something like 75% of the country support River/Boca in Argentina and 90% support one of the big 5 (them 2 + Racing, San Lorenzo & Racing) but I think a lot of it is down to the centralised nature of the country and the press.

Anyhoo...

And every fucker in Uruguay in Penarol or Nacional & a fun fact despite it being nearly twice the size of Portugal all but 1 of the top flight teams play in Montevideo.

Colo's boys:

Austria Salzburg away at Red Bull reserves (equivalent to Wimbledon having to play MK Dons reserves)

Not football, but no doubt this mob support the football team too:
