AyeDubbleYoo
You may as well reduce the Premier League to 8 teams and have them all chasing the 4 Champions League spots. The bottom 2/3 of the league would become almost completely meaningless. Worst idea since multiball TBH.
Si
Further proof that foreigners understand f*** all about football. Well that's not a massive, sweeping generalisation. He's right, though. Well, err, not really. The word 'foreign' means anybody that's not British. Most of the planet understand football exactly the same way we do. Exactly replace foreigners with rich twats and he might have a point.
Guest gggg
The PL has been turning into the NFL for 20 years. I'm sure any neutral 'foreigner' would think only the yanks understand football less judging by the changes to English football. No one would suggest this in somewhere like Germany because they haven't let it get close to the point where they could.

Super Duper Branko Strupar
Further proof that foreigners understand f*** all about football. It's not the football they're interested in, it's their business investment. It was a joke, but, aye. Never said it wasn't. Twas more of a point in agreement rather. But, aye... NG32
Massively unfair on those teams on the edge of the prem league.

sturla
They important thing in the article was: But the Premier League told BBC Sport that the move would be a non-starter, with the Football Association retaining the power to veto any proposals. So this stupid idea wont fly!
Fenham Mag
Will never happen in my lifetime like. Unless every team goes bust apart from 20 teams .
Dr.Spaceman
Surely Blatter and Platini would have something to say about this.

jdckelly
so Venkys are almost certainly behind this brain fart but who else is in on the act? Short maybe and wouldn't surprise me if Bolton were in on the act with what their chairman has come out with "premier league 2" in the past. Could also see QPR's new owner in on it too
Cajun
The only way this would be a good idea if it was the Venkys heading it, Blackburn got relegated this season and the new rule came into effect next season meaning they can't get back up
Mistle17
The sheer fact that this is called the 'best league in the world' is absolutely fucking laughable! This completely supports my opinion of that. It is the greediest, most corporate soul-sucking league in the world, not the fucking best! It is quite sad to see that we're at the stage where traditions and any sort of competitive nature is trying to stamped out like a fire. But, still, I will follow... Wullie
"Foreigners" is going a bit far, and I know Inochi was joking, but there's certainly a sense that a number of foreign owners are from countries with no real footballing culture and are full of bright ideas for us to make it better. Fuck off chaps, you play by our rules, don't try and make your own.

relámpago blanco
This will never happen, because it would basically make every club outside the prem go bust.
wormy
The FA should agree to it, and then give the European spots to the Championship.
