You cannot give Hibberts push like, it's one of them where the referee will give every dozen games or so in an effort to cut down pushing in the box (us v Stoke as an example).

If it is a push, it is a pen, rules is rules :)

Personally i would give every single push, pull or block, it would soon stop the blatant stuff that goes on at every corner.

He was clearly pushed to the extent that he couldn't get a touch on the ball, when he would have. For me that's a penalty, albeit a soft one.

"Natural position" how else is he supposed to get off the ground like? f***ing kick himself up like a 90s break dancer?

 His hand, which was far from his body, stopped the ball, which was going towards an open goal/Krul. Stonewall penalty.

His hand was in a 'natural' position for getting him self off the ground, it wasn't placed there just incase a shot came it's way. Until humans evolve into a more streamlined mammal, you'll find that people cannot keep there hands 20cm from there cock at all times.

I would have given a penalty as you could say he could have done more to quickly move out of the way (debatable), but I wouldn't say it was stonewall.

Tell that to the referees. When the hand is kept far enough from the body, especially when the ball is going towards the goal, it's a penalty.

+ his arm/hand was not not rooted to the ground as well. Clearest penalty not given this season from the games I´ve seen. How anyone can try to justify why the penalty was not given is simply baffling

It's handball but his intention is in doubt. At first it looks like he extends his arm to reach the ball but upon further viewing it was deflected into the direction of his arm. Either way intent is irrelevant, it's handball and by the letter of the law a penalty.

I'm sure there are exeptions to that rule like, such as when a player slips, trips, stands up... etc

Nope, its all in the opinion of the ref, or lineman.......the rules are dumb to be honest, as they contradict what i just said, intent is to be given no intent isn't, yet you see pens given when a ball is blasted form a yard away,  even if the hand is away from the body, you see so many penalties for handball given that are wrong if you go by the rulebook.

Should just change the rules to in the opinion of the officials, thats how it actually is anyway.

"Natural Position" means nothing and is s**** made up by pundits.  You don't find it anywhere in the LOAF and the only decision a ref has to make is whether the handling was deliberate, not whether the position of the persons hands at the time they touched the ball is "natural".

Ian, you're generally a good poster but you really need to take the black and white glasses off. You got a massive slice of luck - it was as clear a penalty as there can be.

As was the push on Ameobi. A slice of good fortune each, then.

Not really, as that wasn't a penalty. The Gosling handball was ridiculously clear.

doesnt that contradict itself ?

Totally wrong in the rulebook mate, and that is where the problem lies, a penalty for handball is to given for intentional handball, thats what your taught as a ref but it just doesn't work that way when a games in flow.

That handball rule really should be about natural position (ie, if hands aren't at side or in front of the torso it's not a handball). Seems odd that an inadvertent mistimed tackle is a foul, but not with handballs.

Consider me educated. You can forgive my mistake given some of the decisions you see these days.  Refs usually point to the spot as soon as they see any form of contact with the arm.
