How the fuck are you lot second??

If we had anything remotely decent up front we'd have won that. Can see you coming down to earth with a bang after your next two games.

And if we'd had four first-team midfielders we would have won by a great deal more

Krul - Decent keeping - 7

Simpson - OK - 6

Taylor - Solid - 7

Coloccini - Much needed composure - 7.5

Taylor - Did well against full back. Top notch goal - 7

Marveaux - Not a RW - 5

Cabaye - Injured for 20 mins - 5

Guthrie - Impressive - 8

Jonas - Worst game in 2011 - 5

Best - Led the line well - 6

Ba - Led the line slightly better than Best - 6.5

Gosling - No real impression - 5

Sammy - Some good, some not good, but did a job - 6

Ben Arfa - Exactly what we needed in possession towards the end - 6

Collectively we won't play that badly and win for a long long time. For what it is worth we were good in the first 20 mins before Cabaye got injured.

Bit harsh on Jonas because he defended for the team for about 88 of the 90 minutes.

Great character and commitment by the lads today despite the weakness of our squads strength in depth showing through.

7's all round for me except for Colo and Guthrie who I give 8

Poor performance, but who honestly cares? We're 2nd in the league, in the form of our lives and loving life. Raylor MOTM and that goal was unbe-freakin-lievable.

Was impressed with Ben Arfa, even though the others seem to love hoofing it. His ball retention was handy.

2nd in the league  :indi:

I wouldn't say we'll be coming back down to earth, as nobody's getting carried away.

Exactly, just a case of another football fan being fooled by the media.

And add a midfield and solid defence and you might get midtable,

You only ended up bossing it because Cabaye went off, and we also had Tiote out injured.  These players are vital to our team and not having them makes a massive difference.

We can barely see you all the way down in 16th.

Yeah this, not surprised we hung on in the end.  Well played lads, proud of this side.

And we had no Fellaini who is just as vital to us.

Love the way that was totally disregarded. We won despite that fact by the way. Very worrying for Everton in my opinion.

Krul - 6. Dealt with everything that came his way, aside from the goal where he had no chance, but fuck his kicking was shite today.

Simpson - 7. Good performance, made some great challenges and got an assist. :pow: Looks a lot better.

STaylor - 7. Did well, was a useful barrier and kept possession well. Came out early a couple times in the first half though, when there was no need.

Coloccini - 8. Typical performance.

RTaylor - 7. Wonderful goal, okay at the back.

Marveaux - 6. Looked sprightly from time to time, not sure if he's suited to the right though. Was disappointed when he went off.

Cabaye - 6. Was okay.

Guthrie - 8. Man of the match. Great performance. Was everywhere, kept possession well.

Jonas - 6. Worst performance of the season from him, but he got progressively better in the second half. Needs a rest like.

Best - 7. Thought he held up play extremely well.

Ba - 7. Didn't start off that well but grew into the game and was vital to helping out the midfield when Cabaye went off. Good performance in the end.

Sammy - 7.

Hatem - 7.

Gosling - 6.

How are we 2nd? Just check the battle for 7th post, it'll explain it pretty damn well.

I think Guthrie was MoM, with Colo as a good number 2.

What makes me happy about this is to see that we have backup for Tiote/Cabaye that can do well. That is a huge relief. Get some defenders and we're all gaaaaaawd. :aww:

Guthrie and Gosling in midfield. Gosling's first game this season. You guys shouldn't be losing in such a situation, with or without Fellaini.

I thought Everton were gash, and not just up front. Nothing up front, ropey in defense, and flattered to deceive in midfield. Thought Rodwell was okay but was disappointed in Drenthe. All fart and no shit from him today.

We were really comfortable in the end; had no doubt that we'd hold on. No surprise that there's 14 places between us and them.

So what you're saying is that despite us having 4 out of our 5 first choice midfielders not playing, you needed better players to win that game.

In other words, the players you have are not good enough.

Yet the players WE had out WERE.

Well, can't argue with that.....

Further, whats the point of coming on and saying "If we had better players we'd have won games" ????

D'OH !!!!

I thought we were more comfortable defensively in the second than the first. We were poor, but Everton showed absolutely nothing going forward. The game was there for the taking, and they had no response.

fully agree with that.
