How didn’t West Ham get a penalty for handball yesterday? Apparently just a normal grappling from behind into a hug and effectively punching the ball. Trying to say he didn’t know the ball was there, where the fuck did he think the ball was then?

As in it shouldn't be a red card or players need to stop being stupid enough to indulge in hair pulling?

It should not be a red card ofc.

I've got no issues with it being a red card, solution is canny simple, don't pull another players hair

Think it was brought up a while back and thought it was canny funny that getting a red for it was the thing seen as utter woke nonsense and not...pulling someone's hair.

“I don’t think it’s a surprise to anyone this season that if there’s a VAR intervention or if there’s something that could be left or right (50-50) then the decision goes against us," Slot told reporters post-match. "That has been the whole season, every single time the same."

Bruno Fernandes seemed to get away with a blatant red card earlier, not sure VAR even reviewed it. Went in off the ground with studs up right on a guy's ankle.

I don’t have an issue with it not being a straight red. It was more the fact he got away with the most blatant yellow card earlier in the half.

I know you could argue that he then doesn’t make such a daft challenge when on a yellow. But he was lucky, either way.

Wasn't off the ground, wasn't studs up and it was below the ankle. A clear yellow. Calling it a blatant red is an insane take.

This is closer to the truth. He roared at the ref as well.

He was probably lucky to avoid a sending off today, but the tackle in question was never a red card.

I’ve definitely seen reds for it, it was out of control and contacted with studs up. It was nasty.

Haven’t watch a replay but IIRC the sole of his foot made contact.

You said he seemed to get away with a blatant red but haven't seen a replay? Come on Ian.

It was just a mistimed tackle. His leading leg was bent, there wasn't any force at all. Would have been two red cards if Casemiro done it mind.

I’ve seen the replays they showed in game obviously. Forgive me if I don’t analyse inferior Bruno’s every action that much.

You've posted in the dogawful officiating thread using words like blatant to describe an incident that you've not even really looked at. Just seems a bit silly to me.

I would encourage you to analyse his every action going forward though. What a player.

Bit late discussing this but I'm not having all this justification of hair pulling. Likes of Le Bris and total sport pundits saying it happens accidentally from time to time in an attempt to grab the shirt. I know it happens but when did shirt pulling become a fair and accepted part of the game. Shouldn't be grabbing anything.

One pundit said "Why don't managers just tell players to grow their hair?". I don't watch much women's football but i've never seen them pulling those long pony tails.

Sometimes stumble across the old "Big Match Revisited" from the 70s and 80s and never see any hair pulling. Charlie George, Stan Bowles, numerous perms, Keegan, Souness and more.  Don't ever recall hearing of any hair pulling.

It's dirty, sly behaviour and pleased when it's punished.

Seems the best place to post this. Haven't long came back in from coaching my local pub team. Meaningless end of season game but the referee performance was a shocker. He's a young lad. Maybe 20 and it's not the first time he's covered our team, he told me a few months ago he was taking U12's games. Well for the third time he has been well out of his depth both teams had some terrible decisions against them. It was hard to keep cool but had to remember his age and after all this is just pub football. It seems almost impossible to give any kind of feedback about his performance and I don't want to be that kind of person just negatively slagging off I want to offer my observations on the game to support the young lad. He takes us again on Saturday, last game of the season its a pretty meaningless game but the team we are playing are notorious in our area and I generally worry about the potential abuse he will receive from the opposition with a similar performance.

According to our app he's had an assessors to monitor him at each of the games he has taken with us but I've not seen one at the park, if he was there I would love to see what kind of notes were being made.

Thankfully we won last kick of the game regardless so no real sour grapes from me 👀

VAR didnt sound like they were sure about it, then ref watches it under the normal impression that he should change his mind.

At no point did they look at the sequencing of the other events.

Not a great look for VAR imo

So Darren England decides it’s a foul immediately. Everything else then becomes secondary and he just brushes over it. Demonstrated by his description of the Raya incidenr as “a possible foul” and everything else as “the actions”.

So one foul on the goalkeeper cancels out the 6 other fouls taking place at the same time. Who’s to say the West Ham player doesn’t get a head to the ball if he isn't fouled by two players at the same time. It’s utter madness.

From a friend but this sums up that ref mic up show

Quote

I do admire the thought that went into the ref mic'd up show though...

"Right lads, Howard is going on tele, who do we get in to make him seem less of a slimy cunt?"

"Jermain Jenas?"

"Very sleazy, but the grannies still like him"

"Richard Keys?"

"Good option, but too busy shaggin young'uns abroad now"

"Tim Lovejoy?"

"Horrible cunt for sure, but too busy on the breakfast shows now"

"I've got it...Michael Owen!"

"Perfect, everyone hates that cunt!"
