Newcastle United 2 - 3 West Brom - 12/21/11 - Post-match reaction from page 44

Recommended Posts

I miss Steven Taylor. No way we'd have lost this or at Norwich with him.

High line was so stupid. Basics of defensive tactics and Pardew got it wrong. Their two quick strikers could just play off the shoulder all night

Pardew, again, could have avoided this. Things he did wrong (IMO)

High line - While Colo isn't really that slow, Odemwingie is fucking rapid. Totally obscure time to use a high line. Then, to make it even better he whips off the very fast Santon and sticks on Ryan 'Titanic' Taylor. Don't even think Pards really knew what he was doing in the slightest.

Ameobi - We started to play well. Then he brought on Ameobi, completely upsetting the balance and leaving Simpson to control the entire right flank. Meanwhile Ameobi ran in circles slowly urinating himself. Also, this was Obertan's first decent game in a long, long while.

Best - While I appreciate what he's done this insistence on two-up-top has to stop. It's 2011, 4-4-2 is effectively finished.

My ratings

Krul - 5 - couldn't do too much. Contribution wasn't great.

Santon - 6(?) - Was playing well, bit confusing he was subbed. (Raylor - 4 - fuck off. Hoof rating - 7)

Coloccini - 4 - Completely done on pace. Looked a bit off the ball. Unusually bad game from my hero.

Perch - 3 - Just awful

Simpson - 4 - Got forward a lot, but unfortunately he's shite. Hoof rating - 8.

Obertan - 5.5 - Was actually OK. (Ameobi - 4 - fuck off)

Tiote - 4 - Gave it away pretty much every time.

Vuckic - 7 - Great game, possibly a reactionist rating but I was very impressed. Some shot on him and brilliant overall technique.

Jonas - 5 - A bit of everything. A bit careless in possession but worked hard.

Ba - 8 - Absolute monster.

Best - 4 - Literally did nothing (HBA - 6 - Looks very sharp)

We were rubbish in pretty much everything we did to.ight. Ba aside of course. I'm still shaking my head over Santon being subbed. Absolutely baffling.

Hes been the realistic link towards our recent form.

No way we'd have conceded 4 at norwich, 3 today etc with Taylor. Our defensive form is what got us up top, now its gone.

Krul 5 did he make a save tonight. Poor positioning I thought for the second and third.

Simpson 5 overused the long ball.

Perch 4.5 caught out twice and cost us two goals.

Colo 5.5 ling tore him apart. Destroyed for pace.

Santon 6 I saw no reason to bring him off

Obertan 5.5 no point to his existence

Tiote 5 poor tonight. Lost the ball too much. Should revoke his shoot outside the box license

Vuckic 7 some great moments. Not involved a whole lot but showed his potential.

Jonas 5.5 rubbish

Ba 7.5 first touch missing tonight but great goals

Best 5.5 won a few headers but poor elsewhere

HBA 7 great  cameo, should have started

Raylor 6 poor sub

Pretty accurate ratings those really.

James Perch at CB = no points

Simple really.

Scapegoat. There were worse players than him out there tonight.

Agree on the ratings. I must have imagined a clean sheet with Perch at CB mind......

The entire team looks tired and jaded.  No energy, urgency or communication.

The only bright spots (Ba excluded), not coincidentally, happened to be Vuckic and HBA.  Players who haven't played much and have much more energy.

Changes are needed quickly.  Cannot continue in the same way and expect anything less than more defeats and insipid play.

Best makes us just play long balls.

Pardew wants us to play the ball on the deck?

:yao:

Pardew was shouting at Tim to kick it long.

Sickening!

That have to be the tactic then, since he play Best and Ba.

We looked totally clueless first half.

No plan B.

We need more creativity, simpler as that.

Funny thing is, that we have exactly the kind of player we need in HBA.

Nearly 2 assist the few minutes he got.

And the Santon sub boils my piss, he surly injured?

Some really, really poor tactics from Pardew today. That Shola substitution was the wrong option. When will our managers learn, that at home, to break their defence, you need to have some form of legitimate width to create some space for the players in the middle, it's not rocket science.

Where's the passing and moving we were said to have worked on all summer as well? Literally zero movement and just looking to crowd the box and smack it in for our big lads, I wouldn't be surprised if that's why Taylor came on, to deliver those 'super accurate' balls for Ba and Shola.

We're a far better footballing team than that, that was bad.

Defence was shocking, but why santon was subbed at halftime i cant get.

Tiote was shocking. really fucking poor. More of the same and Cabaye and Vuckic should be tried.

Obertan alot of nothing, pretty much the same from jonas, however he had the ball abit more.

Best. Meh.

Ba, fantastic again.

Krul, maybe out of position for second goal, however Colo just watched and perch was  his usual self.

Simpson.

Vuckic and Ba the only positives for me. Fun to see ben arfa again!

we been found out, especially at home,  all the opposition have to do, is sit deep,

because they know all we do is lump the ball foward,  so they just sit and wait then counter us easily as we play a high line defence.

we were quite lucky to get away with it vs swansea on saturday.
