NUFC transfer rumours in the press

I dont rate Tello that highly...... he basically has one move..... run in behind and shoot i dont see him staying at Barca for very long despite his early success.

I wouldnt be that excited if we signed him tbh.

LOL Wut i been watching La Liga since 1995 on almost a weekly basis

Just because a player plays for Barca doesnt make him fantastic, just like how Wes Brown and John O'Shea are not good because they played for Utd.

Reminds me of Nolito last season who made a few appearances (doing a similar thing) and was then moved on at the end of the season. Probable shop-windowing, so you never know.

NEWCASTLE UNITED defensive target Douglas has told FC Twente boss Steve McClaren that he is ready to quit the Dutch club to pursue his dream of playing in the Premier League.

And the Chronicle understands that McClaren has quickly moved to line up a replacement for the 24-year-old – meaning the starting gun has officially been fired in the race to land the big defender, with the Magpies firmly in place to win the battle for his services.

We reported back on December 19 that Douglas was in Newcastle boss Alan Pardew’s sights and the Toon boss has spent time scouting the player in order to see if he has got what it takes to survive life in the Premier League.

Douglas impressed watching scouts once again this weekend by scoring in the 2-0 win over Roda JC with a towering header.

The defender is also a target of Twente’s Dutch rivals Ajax as well as Bundesliga side Schalke 04, but Douglas wants a switch to the Premier League.

And while Aston Villa and Fulham are also keen, United could be in the box seat for his services if they seal a place in Europe.

A source at FC Twente told the Chronicle: “It’s not a case of if Douglas wants to play in the Premier League – it’s simply when. He’s told the manager he wants to go.

“Steve McClaren also has a new defender lined up to replace him in the summer and appreciates that Douglas wants to move on.”

Pardew revealed over the weekend that he expects to sign a senior defender during the close season, as well as two younger players who will challenge for the first team.

Newcastle’s need for a new centre-back could not be more apparent as they limp into the final seven games undestrength in that department.

Indeed, full-back cum anchor man James Perch has had to drop into the heart of defence in the last two games, after Fabricio Coloccini joined former England Under-21 star Steven Taylor on the sidelines.

Mike Williamson is the only recognised senior central defender on United’s books.

Pardew has even placed an instant call back clause on James Tavernier, who is on loan at MK Dons, as his squad is tested to the limit.

Yet he hopes to rectify that situation by making signing a centre-back his priority this summer.

Meanwhile, the Magpies’ reserve side faced Fulham in the capital today at Motspur Park with a 2pm kick-off.

Willie Donachie fielded a young side in the FA Premier Reserve League as the Magpies looked to bounce back from a 4-1 drubbing at home to West Brom last week.

Sure this has been discussed loads, but is Douglas good? What's his style?

I have not seen him that much, but from what i read here, and other rapports he sounds like the perfect partner to Colo.

Have to be good if he thinks he can make the Holland squad if he gets the papers so he can play for them.
