NUFC transfer rumours in the press

Bent's scored bucket loads for Ipswich, Charlton, Sunderland, Villa...it's not like he's had it easy, he's played in teams who've played worse stuff than us and still banged them in.

Yeah because he's good at playing in shit teams that build their entire gameplan around him. The results tend to stay shit just that he's scoring 60% of his teams goals and the football is terribad.

We already have 2 centre forwards that seem completely incompatible in a front 2, the last thing we need is another of the same ilk who can only function on his own. We need wingers, or flexible wide forwards, or a centreforward who can play back to goal, plus some new centre halves, plus a new fullback, plus a box-to-box midfielder... long before we need to sign Darren Bent.

I don't know, maybe I've just got a soft spot for goalscorers like that. Love watching people like him, Djibril Cisse, Jermaine Defoe, etc. who just have a knack of taking a touch then smack, goal.

I can't think of a more absurd signing. As you say just having two strikers who want to do the same thing is causing us problems - imagine adding a third striker to that? If you already have two excellent Right-Backs who can't fit into the same side easily you don't go out and buy a third, slightly less good one, especially when other areas of the side need attention.

Bent would be f*cking useless in this current set up..... he's merely a poor mans Cisse with even worse link up. ( not to say Cisse's is bad btw)

Exactly the kind of player we don't need, if he was cheap and excepted a bench role and we played football that created chances then maybe but as it is not a chance in hell.

Yep, Bent is a player who thrives on service, as it stands he won't get that here.

Would take, if nowt else it'd make someone other than Shola the 3rd choice. Too similar to Cisse to work unless we're 4-5-1'ing it.

yeah but it's not like we are going to spend endless cash

Where did I say we were?

We'd never buy Bent, he's past his best, high wages, English etc.

Maybe we should try to loan Guthrie from Reading in January (sarcasm). Guthrie turned down NUFC's contract offer to get games but he isn't getting a game for Reading after rumours of falling out with their manager. As it happens I think he'd have played just about every week for us if he'd stayed what with Cabaye and Tiote never being available at the same time. His move hasn't worked out for him or NUFC.

David Crossan (@davidmcrossan) tweeted at 8:31 AM on Wed, Nov 28, 2012:

No original quotes in the #LEquipe piece. They do quote from @lee_ryder writing in the Chronicle and have a focus on the French players.

So much for them being a reliable source.
